Greetings! I am an American living in Bangkok with my Thai wife. I was pointed to this website after I'd been posting on another pigeon board.

Sixteen months ago, a pigeon couple, whom we namd Big Pidgee and Little Pidgee, moved into and laid eggs in a flower pot on our sixth-floor balcony while we were upcountry. We allowed them to stay, eventually providing them with a roomier flower box and fresh water.

I began chroncling them here. (That's not the other pigeon board.) I still keep ...

It's the stormy season again, and today there have been winds gusting between 70 - 80 along the south coast. I face west, and get the wind right off the sea from SW direction, and that's hard on the birds hanging out across the street. They hate flying over in these conditions, as they have little control if a strong gust catches them when they approach the balcony. It's difficult to cling to the railing, and some don't manage to get a grip at all.

If I open the door, they don't know if ...

I am so sad today . Our Peppi is missing since yesterday early afternoon.

I am awfully worried. Peppi did not come home yesterday evening and did not appear this morning either. It is evening and he still is not back. I am so worried and I feel really sick today. I am crying because I am afraid that something has happened to him. Pina is waiting for him to come home too. She was on the balcony nearly the whole day already. If I only knew what has happened. My only hope is that he flew with ...

I haven't been on here for a while but have a sad/happy story why.

About 2-3 weeks ago Seagull found a way to get out of the Loft, I was so worried about him, I walked around the whole neighborhood, then drove around. Finally after several hours of no Seagull, I decided to head home, on my way home I drove by a house that feeds the pigeons, and there was Seagull with a flock, I was so happy to find him that I sat there and cried.

So knowing that he was alright and back with his flock I decided ...

Or should I rather say "cardbox pijjies" because they sleep in this box each evening in our livingroom. I wonder how long still they will come deliberately after flying around the whole day outside - I hope for a long time still

plus there is a noticeable smell when the door from the communal stairs to our balcony is opened

i don't mind this but it could alert somebody else to the location of our little family

PP and his mate sneaked onto my second floor balcony in the winter of 1995/1996, staking out a disused plant tub hidden behind a large fan palm for their nest site. First I knew was when, on a bitter cold January day, I went out to get a spare flowerpot, prompting PP's swift exit. He left behind him a small feathery thing, the like of which I'd never seen. This later became affectionately known as 'Tatty', for her breast feathers never did grow quite right and always had a look of disarray. Hardly ...

I was too much in a panic (from my bad experience before) that I did not ask for details which is absolutely stupid. I was just relieved that it did not seem so bad at all as I had thought it was i.e. that the vet did not want to put her down which would have been an absolute nightmare for me

Today I have started to tell the story of Emma's sickness. It is on my diary of the Pigeon Tales

I can tell you that is was truly scary and I was in panic because at that point of time I knew very few about the diseases, their symptoms and their treatment. For over a year (since March 2008) everything went totally okay. "Our" pijjies all survived a very long and hard winter without any problems at all, although only Emma and Pete were actually sleeping on our balcony at that time. ...

In the meanwhile my day begins at 6.30 when Willy arrives to feed Peppi and Pina (formerly Peppino - but I am sure in the meanwhile that Peppino is a Peppina - therefore we changed it to Pina) I am taking the flowerpot off the hooks and put it on the floor near the balcony door. Willy knew from the beginning where his little ones were and now makes special noises when he wants to feed them. So far so good.

The noises you hear are mostly from Peppi - I have never had a baby pigeon that was so cheerful and chatty

That our feathered friends are very intelligent, even tricky and funny we all know - but did you know that pigeons also own a certain economical intelligence?

Or how would YOU interpret these images where our Willy - when he wanted to dispose of the eggshells - apparently pushed them inside one another so that he did not have to fly away twice but could do the "job" all at once!
