She was rescued by a very kind lady who notified me to see if I could take her in. Without hesitation, I accepted. On June 24, 2003, Pij'ette became a member of our family. It was obvious she had a wing injury that had healed over. I took her to a local rehabber to have it checked out. After removing a few small feathers a horrific abscess was discovered at the bend of her wing, which appeared to have gone untreated. ... Once recovered, they remain handicapped to some extent for life. One thing I noticed though is that baths calms them and helps their recovery. They enjoy enormously bathing.
