Birdy has settled in very nicely, he's decided that the top shelve of his cage is the best place to see whats going on in the rest of the room. His cage is next to 4 cages of doves so he has lots of company.

Since its suppose to rain for the next couple of days Birdy will be in the house, I can keep asn eye on him just to make sure he's settled, the wkend is going to be warmer & sunny so we will introduce him into the loft then.

I will follow up with photos of him in the ...

My brother called and told me about this little girl. She was puffed up, alone on the street and barely standing on one foot. He got closer to her and realized she still had string on her feet. As you can see, the string had already done its damage. He took her off the street and sent her up to the Birdbarn.

While Penny Lane was recuperating, she had another recent rescue Fredrick keeping a close eye. During the day, I would bring her cage out for sun, and Fredrick would hang around ...

Pij'ette was found on the street, dirty, fatigued and unable to fly. She was rescued by a very kind lady who notified me to see if I could take her in. Without hesitation, I accepted. On June 24, 2003, Pij'ette became a member of our family.

It was obvious she had a wing injury that had healed over. I took her to a local rehabber to have it checked out. After removing a few small feathers a horrific abscess was discovered at the bend of her wing, which appeared to have gone untreated. ...

I would like to introduce Roady and myself to Pigeon Angels. We will both have lots of questions as our journey together continues. He will most likely fit in the “special needs” bird forum. I have several handicapped animals but Roady is my first pigeon.

I call him Roady because that is where we first met. I was driving when I saw him in the road and he did not move. I stopped and tried to get him to fly. He just flailed around. A man suddenly appeared, seemly out of nowhere, ...

Our "Clipper" was found & brought to a Rehabber in Mass. in April, in VERY bad shape - probably just weaned, with a serious case of Canker, & extremely underweight, among other issues. Jodi didn't expect him to even live thru his first night with her! But - surprise us, they will !!!! Clipper is a tough little bird and he pulled thru it all!! Once Jodi was certain that the Canker was fully controlled, she put out a plea for a new home and - well - what could we do? Clipper ...

Hi~--- I’m Jenn and this is my story about our special needs Pijie~ Petrie!

I came across an ad on Craigslist that read… injured pigeon needs new home.

I ran for the phone…. I figured I could help find a home for the lil’ one… since he had recovered from an injury. But that was FAR from what this lil’ bird needed. After talking to the family that had him I had learned that their dog had attacked the bird earlier that morning and he was barely alive in a box in the backyard. ...

Phoenix is going to tell his own story.

I am a small white Ivory ring neck dove and I look just like this. Well almost.

I was born on June 30th, 2008. I lived outside in a cage with my Mom and Dad.

The day before I turned 1 month old I was attacked. I don't know what attacked me because it was dark outside.

But I do know I was hurt terribly. When it got light I looked to my side and my wing was gone. I was very scared.

Why did this happen to me?

It happened because my home ...

Bath day for PMV birds

Most of my birds are PMV survivors. Once recovered, they remain handicapped to some extent for life. One thing I noticed though is that baths calms them and helps their recovery. They enjoy enormously bathing. Even the ones that act stressed when I place them in the bathtub, in a matter of seconds stress is forgotten.

I fill 30~40 mm water in the cat litter box and of course always supervise them.

My husband, stepson and I moved into this area about 2 years ago, and since then we’ve really have done a lot of work to this little house and by cleaning up this old house we’ve met everyone in the neighborhood. And so when the next door ladies dog went after a Hawk that had landed in her yard she was real surprised when the Hawk took off leaving a young King pigeon behind with a broken wing and a puncture wound into his breast she gave my husband a call and asked him what she should do, ...

Cutie Pie is a one footed Roller. He showed up here in 2003, with both legs and joined my little flock. He has always looked out of place next to my well fed Ferals and Homers because he is very, very small...a doll of a Pigeon you could say.

On October 12, 2005, I walked into the garage, where my Pigeons were kept, to turn off the lights and close up for the night. There, hanging by one foot, by the rung of a ladder was poor little Cutie Pie. It was his band that got stuck and he severed ...

Rae Charles is a common feral checker who was brought to us Oct 4, 2004.

A kind man who had been feeding a few ferals that visited his yard noticed one in particular was picking at seed, but was unable to pick them up. He also noticed when this pigeon took of he would crash into the side of his house.

One day after spreading the seed, he came up behind this pigeon and caught him.

He called me asking if he could bring the bird over. Of course there was no hesitation.
