Walter and His Hat

Walter loves my Turkey Vulture Society hat. I can set him in it and he'll stay there as long as I let him. I can even carry it around with him in it. He's not too fond of me but he'll let me pet him when he's in his hat. He feels safe in there. He's never pooped in it, and he never leaves it on his own. It's like a little security blanket for him.

That is just adorable. Walter must be a character. Have you hand raised him?

Only for a week or so. He fell out of his nest, but he was almost fledged by then. I just kept him in the house at night to keep him warm. He's fledged now though. Wants nothing more to do with me.

He's just going through his teenage stage. be patient and he'll like you again, soon enough.

Wow that does sound like a great idea Charis! But on the hindsight, what if they start pooping in there Since it would be made of cloth, it would get soggy?

I can't blame Walter for liking your hat so much! I would too cause we love turkey vultures in fact we love vultures of any kind !!!

How is Walter doing, Luna Wolf?

He's doing good. He found the hanging baskets in the loft and sits in them for a good part of the day. He had his first bath yesterday.
