Manx, the lodger Empty
PostSubject: Manx, the lodger   Manx, the lodger Icon_minitimeTue Apr 05, 2011 8:29 pm

Last October, I posted this:

Quote :
There's a spare squeaker in my veranda! That's too funny Manx, the lodger 142829 She's there right now, for the third night in a row. She's a little blue-bar with practically no tail feathers but a lot of spirit in competing for food! I guess she must be a lucky survivor of a foiled predator attack.
She forages around all day, and as soon as the sun starts to go down, in she comes! Happy She's sleeping in a little newspaper-lined tray on top of Abby's cage, and has her own food and water dishes. I've called her Manx.

This was her last night, sleeping on top of George's cage:

For about another 2 months, Manx continued to come in to eat and sleep, and during the day he Manx, the lodger 395766 would practice flying and hung around with my feral flock:

Manx, the lodger DSCNB7232-cr550

The tail feathers grew back and he stopped staying the night, but came round every day to feed, flying straight to tray on the top of Abby's cage, but taking shelter on top of George's cage, as on the next photo, when challenged by a larger male:

Manx, the lodger DSCNB7343-r400

Now he still comes in to eat every day. And look at the difference, he's huge! Manx, the lodger 142829

Manx, the lodger DSCNB8500-r550

If his meal his late, he calls my attention by flying into the kitchen, circling round my head and going back to his perch! That's too funny I tried getting that on video, but as soon as he sees the camera, he stays put! Oh brother I'll keep trying... Laughing

She's Rameses' mate, and a frequent visitor, but I haven't given her a name. Embarassed

I've been trying to get a video of Manx flying right into the kitchen from the veranda, circling round my head, and perching on the tray where I always place his food, to indicate 'FEED ME NOW!' Demanding, but cute! Tickled Pink

Trouble is, as soon as he sees the camera, he doesn't budge! Oh brother I only managed to get this, and though he doesn't circle round my head because of the camera, it will give you an idea!
