| My pijs' cage is exactly like your cage. I attached a box of nesting materials outside the cage grill, face the opening of the box inside the cage so they can pull out the nesting material one at a time. It's clean. I'll take a picture tonight and will post it. | |

| Okay...............how's this? Looks like it might give them something to do. Thanks so much for the idea. Is this what you mean? They had already pulled all the paper and the piece of cloth out of the bowl, so I guess they didn't like it anymore. Actually, I think Cricket did that, as she was doing it even when they were in separate cages. I wonder if she will use the bowl. I don't use bowls in the loft. It gives them more room, and they enjoy just building the nest in the nest box. If they do like the bowl, then I could use it with them though. | |

| BTW, do you give them pine needles? My pijs love them. Also if you give them spray millet, after they peck on it, save the "bone", shake it to get rid of the dusty particles, leave it on the cage, they may also love to include that on their nesting. | |

| Hello Charis, Well, Piggy laid the 8th set of egg last nite. I'm on the lookout now to switch eggs after she lays the 2nd egg tomorrow. Just last night, first time I heard Piggy doing the sound "oohrr-ohrr-ohrr" before the egg came out . Was she on labor or pain? Then few minutes after I checked on the nest, there was already the egg. Do you think that sound was normal? | |

| These pictures just warm my heart!!! Virgil and Cricket make such an adorable pair...I love how they already seem like a couple. (Is it safe to say they are a couple yet? Or when do we know?) Virgil seems so happy!!! I am glad to hear that he has been sweet to Cricket. It is so wonderful to see him with a friend, and one who shows interest in him, after him being alone for so long. Jay, thank you for taking the time and having the patience to bring them together (and for giving us all such wonderful updates). Faon | |

Faon Faon, thank you for Virgil. He's a sweetheart. Very nice little bird, and they are very cute together. As far as being a couple, I would think they must be, because if she didn't want him, believe me she would have made that very clear right from the beginning. She is not shy about telling a male who is bothering her to get lost. And she does it with flair. LOL. As far as the millet spray, I have some and will try it with them. The only one I have given that to is Scooter, who really didn't bother with it. They did pull the straw out and into their cage, but they didn't make a nest. Just threw it all over the cage floor. Maybe Cricket just isn't used to being caged. Maybe she will do better in her nest box. I don't know. I'll give them more time and see what they do. I'll go add the millet spray now and see what happens. And thanks Tech for the idea. You explain very well, and your English is fine. I appreciate the idea. | |

| Hi all! This morning when I checked on Cricket and Virgil one more time before leaving for work, they were mating. Or he was trying to. That missing wing kinda messes up his balance. When I got home this is what I found. So much for the higher shelf I put in for Cricket, in case she needed a brake and wanted a place to perch where Virgil couldn't go. He was sitting on the high shelf, and Cricket was on the floor. Guess he was the one who needed the brake. LOL. He will get better at getting around as time goes on. Just takes practice. It surprised me to see him up there. Very Cute. They liked the millet spray. Thanks for the idea. | |

| Since they're both using it, I replaced it with a longer and wider one. He does okay at getting up there without the wing. He's learning. | |

| I gave them more straw in the little box outside their cage when I cleaned the cage this afternoon. If you noticed in the picture, the nest bowl is still empty. Maybe they want pillows and a feather bed? | |
