| His name is Nikolaj. One of two orphaned babies I found the same winter morning two years ago. They were maximum two weeks old, and I found them on the same place, in 30 min time period. From the day one he was problematic child. Both babies were with diarrhea and I placed them in the warm place in one bowl. Romeo – his brother would let me feed him and quickly adapted. Nik was wiggling, spilling food, choking, vomiting and falling out of bowl. After a week, Romeo was tame and would come to me to pet him follow me around and beg for food. Nik stayed wild and always tried to escape from me. Even after couple of months he would go ballistic whenever I approached their cage. After the moult, they started fighting and I separated them. One day as I was cleaning, somehow he managed to open the door of the cage. It may be that I didn’t close it properly, but he took off. I saw him flying straight like bullet disappearing in the distance. Usually when I release pigeon, or let recovered birds out to fly, they circle around the garden and come back. The way he was flying gave me the creepy feeling that he wants to put as much distance between him and me as possible. …………………….. Three days later he was back. I was busy in the loft when he flied in and perched on the cage near me. I stepped closer toward him and slowly extended my hand. He hopped on my arm and started snuggling his head between my fingers. After that there were a long cooing explanations of his adventures while preening my ear. From that day he is the tamest bird in my loft. I can let him out to fly and the moment I cal,. he is back, perching on my arm. I can hold him, treat him as one of these plush baby toys, he accepts everything. The only problem we have so far is that he would not pick mate. Lately, he shows interest in hen he made previous show for and when she is ready, I’ll let them be together. This is his brother Romeo and hen Juliette | |

| What a character Nik is. Gotta love the hoop toss. And how proud he seems to be, having mastered it around his neck. I love their story. Nice little crest Romeo has. Many for sharing the wonderfully entertaining photos and story with us. | |

| What a brilliant, funny bird Nik is! So entertaining, not to say multi-talented! You should have entered him for the balcony pigeon talent contest, he would win hands down! Loved hearing about him and Romeo. Is the one with the crest Romeo's girl? They're all so lovely! | |

| Nik sounds like one really smart bird Pigeon who has tried the 'freedom of the skies' and makes a choice to come back and enjoy the comfort and care of home is a pigeon with good sense. Love the hulahoop performance :lol!: | |

Quite a stunning bird. Do you think he has some fantail in him? How many birds do you currently care for? | |

| Romeo has fantail’s blood most definitely, while Nik is more on the fun-tale side. At the moment I have 23 pigeons and 12 Senegal doves. Pigeons are permanent while three of the doves are to be released soon. | |
