This is a great article. Noble Eagles, Nasty Pigeons, Biased Humans 142829

Biobigotry: the persistent and often irrational desire to be surrounded only by those species of which one approves, and to exclude any animals, plants and other life forms that one finds offensive.

Related to the human impulse to see ourselves in nature is the persistent sense that nature belongs to us, and that we have the right and the means to control it.

Great article Jenn. Doesn't the above quote about sum up the way humans see themselves?!

Nice Thread and Good post

We get many people bringing in injured animals to the rescue centre who are biased and have biobigotry. Sometimes if we inform them that the baby bird they have rescued and brought to us isnt a blackbird but rather a starling, they say "Oh, if I'd known that I wouldn't have bothered rescuing it."

How can anyone love one species and hate another so much? Crazy.

Unfortunately, many people believe that being the dominant species means we can use and abuse all we see, rather than understanding that we have the right and the duty to be caretakers.
Selfishness, greed and prejudice always try to justify their acts. Thank goodness many people are not that easy to hoodwink.
