| Very interesting articles indeed! Thanks for posting them, Charis! I think that unfortunately, those people who 'hoard' animals in awful conditions, are too frequently mistaken for people who genuinely love and help animals. I'm glad that there is an interest at present in studying that kind of behaviour, and I hope it will be followed by positive measures to stop the animal cruelty it causes. This subject is of particular relevance to me, because my cat Kali came from a neighbouring hoarder's yard. The mother cat was sick and rejected her litter of seven. The hoarder put down a bowl of cow's milk mixed with water to feed kittens who didn't know how to drink yet. :For Shame: By the time I became aware of their plight, Kali was severely dehydrated and suffering from cat flu, and the other 6 had perished. I talked the woman into accepting help from a charity to get her cats neutered (she provides food and shelter enough for about 6 adult cats, but no health care), by saying that if she didn't bring the very high birth and death rates under control, I would report her to the authorities myself. Here is Kali, when she was 4 weeks old, with her new best friend, my collie Ashe. | |

| Thank you Charis for posting the links. Very interesting.
And I agree, Teresa, more info is needed on hoarders to help stop them doing what they do. It is so unfortunate that these kinds of things are going on. I hope Kali is doing well with you (what am I saying, of course she is!).

| Kali is doing fine! And she, in turn, adopted Lawrence, the last scrap-of-a-cat I adopted because nobody else wanted a paralysed kitten. Now that he's totally healed and a beauty of a big cat, I've had requests to give him away -- well, no can do! | |

|
Isn't it something how some people won't have anything to do with a 'challenged' animal, but boy howdy when they have recovered it's a different story?
| |

| The video wasn't so bad and they did say that homes had been found for all the birds. | |

I know you wouldn't have. It was fine to post it. It's just that I got the gist of the situation with the picture. For me, I didn't need to watch the video.
