poor photos - but can you spot the odd-one-out?


2 days ago i saw a red bar that didn't quite look like the other ferals
hmm...no...surely not...it must be my eyes, or the pij is preening - or dancing?
i muttered something about Modenas but i couldn't really believe it

yesterday i spotted him again - looking like he didn't quite belong
i watched a while...even just sitting there i could see that his tail was held upwards
his body is deep, head short, ruff luxurious

the way he was walking on the tiles was odd too - like he wasn't used to it; the ferals are very sure-footed
i muttered something again about Modenas...this time my OH was listening
"look" i said "...can you see that pij is different from the rest?"
"what? the chicken?"

yep...that's what i wanted to hear i was not going mad (turning crazy pij-person maybe)

this morning i paid special attention to the roof opposite
there he was - so obvious
i phoned my loft-keeper friend who is also secretary of the Midlands Columbarian Society
so the word is out now, meanwhile i'll be keeping an eye on chicken-pij :Yes:

Poor thing. Anyway to catch him?

Poor thing. Maybe if you put some food down he'll come to get it. He probably deosn't know how to find food the way the flock does.

Oh dear, can you see any sign of a ring from that far off?

I hope he's ok.

this is a worry - i have wondered about feeding him but he is following the flock and i have never seen them on the ground near here...plus we have an active wild rat population and some cats that are always watching them
i feed Apollo and his new missus on our back balcony ...very discreetly with a few flax seeds - i can put some on the wall of balcony that faces the flock, i'll nick some of my rats' maize too

no - i couldn't see one, there is an ex-racer who has been with the flock for months, i can just about see his even though it is a way off
