Dive bombing?

Okay, I know that Hercules is a handfull -- but today he's been doing something decidedly odd:

While he was free in the room, and perching on Piper's landing board, Lawrence lay down in the sun on the floor beneath, and Hercules looked at him, positioned himself... and pooped on the cat! :eek: Then, half an hour later, he did it again!!!
Is this normal behaviour?

Don't know if I should laugh, (poor Lawrence). but it sounded funny when I pictured it.

I reckon Hercules was taking advantage of his elevated position to pull rank on Lawrence.

Um, I've never even heard of something like that happening before, but I bet Hercules is marking his territory and showing Lawrence who's boss!

I'm guessing it was intentional. From what I understand, pigeons "aim" to poop outside their nests (not always successfully), and I notice that my companion, Southy, will aim his poop away from my body when he's standing on my shoulder or arm. There seems to be some meditation beforehand--some urgency and walking about--before he poops when he's walking on me or in the area where his food is. Other animals use their excretions as "expression," so I'm guessing it's the same for pigeons!

Teresa - believe me - this is fully intentional! Apparently Lawrence has made Hercules angry one day and this was his revenge. He also tells Lawrence this way which significance he has in his (Hercules') life.

I can assure you - pigeons poop for frustration, for anger, for joy and definitely for disgust. I have watched this quite often.

Weeeeeell... Hercules has had a go at Lawrence before, wingslapping his nose when Lawrence pressed it against the cage... but in this instance, he was totally innocent! (Unlike me!)

The best one I remember was done by a photographer here in Figueira, in the seventies:
It was Sunday, and there was a large photo on the photographer's shop window of an oil platform smack in the middle of the bathing beach. (The photo was a montage, because the platform was 2 Km out to sea.)
I remember asking my friend, 'Is that possible?', so we went to the promenade to look at the beach. The whole town was there!!! He must have been among the crowd laughing his head off!
