Pigeon that got lost and flew 1222 miles

It was just disappointing that after all that, owner and rescuer find it too much trouble to send her back home. According to the article, the rescuer is looking for a permanent home for the bird. She's asked people to contact her on kellyburns5@gmail.com.

I agree, Teresa. But then one would have to wonder what the fate of the bird would have been if he had been sent back.
I hope he finds a wonderful forever home.

Yeah - this is exactly what makes me angry. No-one is worth to have a pigeon like that if that's the opinion. I do not dare to imagine what this guy does when a pigeon is becoming sick

The owner didn't seem unreasonable -- but then again, appearances do deceive! He runs a funeral release service, rather than race his pigeons, so he might take her back and try again. But chances are the bird would keep straying, and it seems he didn't want to pay a bundle to ship the bird home if she's not going to stay there.
She's lovely! I'd keep her, if she fancied crossing the Atlantic!

She wouldn't necessarily stray. She may have gotten chased by a hawk, and flown so far that she got lost. Those things do happen. It's too bad that he didn't want her back. Poor bird. It's very pretty.

The fact she survived whatever caused her to detour, would be all the more reason I would want her back home safe and sound, had I been the owner.
