| Arthur arrived a week ago Friday. I had a call from my friend, Heather, at the feed store asking if I would accept a white homing pigeon. I really had to think long and hard about it because I am full to capacity and she told me this one is another male. In fact I sad no but changed my mind when she told me he had a broken wing. I've pieced his story together from several sources. Apparently, he walked into someone's home, via the dog door. They put him out but he came right back in. Where or how his wing was broken, no one seems to know. He lived with those folks for several weeks, during which time they advertised on Craig's List and tried to find his home. They heard about a man, Willy, that keeps pigeons and took Arthur to him. During Arthur's time with Willy, he was given free range of the house and slept in a basket near the coffee table. When I brought him home, he was stoic and wouldn't eat. I had him in a cage in the kitchen where he could see Pearly. He stood as still as a statue and after 36 hours of that, I started to hand feed peas and corn. I didn't have all the information I just shared with you at that time and didn't find out until this past Friday that he had free run of Willy's house. When I heard that, I put him in the pigeon room and let him out of the cage. Within a short time, he was eating on his own although he is very shy and keeps to himself. I have the feeling, he has not been around other pigeons until he got here. I'm at a quandary as to what to do with this guy. It's been over 2 months since the wing was broken and while it doesn't hang, it is useless. If he's confined, in a cage, he gets depressed and won't eat. I'm fairly certain he's a King pigeon. | |

| Arthur is a beauty! But you have been put in a very difficult position, with yet another male rescue who may not be able to be homed with other pigeons. Not many people can manage to give a forever home to a pigeon who is used to roam about a house where there are no other pets. I hope and pray such a home may be found. | |

| Thank you for your offer, Robin. Jay has also offered to take him. He is so sensitive that I do have some conerns about how he would do with a road trip or should I say...flight trip. I've never had a bird as sensitive as this guy. I do have some others in mind for you though, if it would be okay with you. | |

| What a beautiful bird and what a fate again. So sad that his wing has not been treated properly. I am very happy that you found a good home for him, Charis. Good luck, little Arthur Btw - I find that white pigeons always look specifically fragile... | |

I was curious to hear how this handsome boy is doing? Arthur is a sweet bird and he is handsome. He hangs out on the floor during the day and I put him in the cage at night where he seems content to sleep in a little cutie box. I have several bricks on the floor so he can perch. on them during the day. Several times he has tried to fly and it makes me feel sad for him. Earlier today he was dancing around the floor in circles and letting the other males know that he is a big strong bird even though his wing doesn't work anymore. He loves millet sprays, lettuce and Safeway 5 seed bread. | |

| I just took a new picture with my phone camera. It's a great picture and I've emailed it to myself so I can post it. He looks more confident than when you met him. | |
