| Giving antibiotics to pigeons should always be a well-pondered decision, which once made demands that the animal should have the right dosage and receive the full course of the medication.Taking antibiotics for less than the prescribed period will kill only the less resistant bacteria, leaving the more resistant to multiply and cause a more serious infection that will be antibiotic-resistant.The following article presents the latest findings on antibiotic resistance, its causes and consequences. It was written for humans, but the lesson is the same. http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2011/apr/07/antibiotic-resistance-bacteria?CMP=twt_fd(Posted also on Facebook) | |

| and It's easy to abuse antibiotics without really understanding what you're doing. I feel that vet advice is always required if you're not familiar with how to use antibiotics. Our local vets just sent out a new advice sheet about using antib's to all the wildlife rescue centres in the area just to ensure that we all know what to do. | |
