| They are so adorable. Handle them often, and feed them from your hand, and they will become very comfortable with you. Looking forward to watching them grow up. Your going to enjoy them. They are just too cute. Best of luck with them. | |

| The parents come from Charis's loft. I believe that the parents were rescues. Charis can tell us more about theme.
Tonight, they started eating on their own. I was getting ready to hand feed them when Quilla started grabbing peas from the bowel. Eventually Miu began to catch on to what his sister was doing and attempted to eat some peas but got squeeked and pecked at by his little sister and so he wanders off only to find a bowel of pigeon feed. Oh did he go to town on the pigeon feed. I ended up mixing some seed with the soft peas and they loved it. They actually wanted the pigeon feed over the peas.
I am tickled pink. Now, if I can just get them to drink on their own.

| Nice that their eating well. You need to get them to drink. Just dip the beak gently into the water, but make sure you don't cover the nostrils. You don't want them breathing in water as they can aspirate. | |

| I agree with Jay, you need to make sure they are drinking. Do their droppings have any white (urine) in them? | |

| Yes, their poops are perfect. Solid, well formed with a nice white top. We are sure enjoying them and Quilla is the loud bossy one and Miu wants to hide under his sister. Too cute.

That's good. That indicates they are getting some water.

| The two baby drank from their water bowel for the first time last night and no, I had not been leaving a water bowel in their cage until now. I was fortunate to have a neighbor who was willing to pigeon sit during the day and so, over the past week, the babies would be fed and watered 4-5 times a day. Now that they are eating on their own, I am not sure we will need a pigeon sitter. I think my neighbor will be disappointed. She has become quite attached to the little ones.
Today, my son wants the babies to come to his baseball games and its such a nice warm day today. I have a large carrier that has a suntop that I used to use when we would take our ferrets to the ball game. I think they will enjoy getting out side for some fresh air and sunshine.

| Well, I just put a bathing bowel out with warm water. Well, Miu will have nothing to do with it but Quilla loves the bathing bowel. She hopped right on it, laid down in the water water and spread her feather which allowed me to dribble water all over the top of her. I wish I had my camera with me...Reminder, get batteries.
Its amazing how different their personalities are. Quilla is the adventurous one while as Miu is shy and cautious

I wouldn't take out birds that young to a ballgame, and actually, I don't think they will be very comfortable in that environment. They like calm and quiet. But if you feel that you need to, then I would only remind you that people bring their dogs to ballgames. Be careful. And kids are going to be rushing up to them and wanting to poke at them. The birds are only going to be stressed. Stress can bring on illness in birds. Better to keep them at home and let them get used to their secure surroundings, than to bring them somewhere where they could be scared. Also, someone could possibly let them out of the cage. Just not a good idea. Please reconsider.

Yvette, The birds most certainly would enjoy some fresh air and sunshine, but not at a ball game where people are cheering for their favorite team (or perhaps yelling at the umpire), kids running about and as Jay pointed out other animals wanting to satisfy their curiosity. This type of environment is stressful for any pigeon, let along a baby. Quilla and Miu are precious little ones. We sure don't want them to get sick.

| Thank you all who responded. I took your advice and left them at home.
Question, I started to introduce some fresh fruits and veggies this morning. I gave them finely chopped lettace, carrots, strawberries, grapes, and bananas. I there any fruits and veggies that you would not recommend for pigeons. Is there F&V that are more preferred by pigeons?
Thank you all for the great advice. Its really appreciated.

| Thanks for letting us know Yvette. You made the right decision in leaving them in the comfort of their new home. Veggies are great for them. I give mine romaine lettuce, sometimes a garden mix of different lettuce varieties. Some like spinach, which is great for them Mine also like chopped fine carrots. Some like broccoli, although I have read that you should give just a little as too much can give them gas. Pigeons aren't so much on fruit, and some things can be dangerous for them, so check first to be sure it's safe for them. Teaching them early to eat veggies is a good idea, as they will be more likely to eat them when they are older if they are used to them. I know Charis does, in the warm weather, give her chickens water melon, which they just love. I can't remember if she gives it to her pigeons or not. You could check with her. Good job! | |
