Mist nets have been used since the fifties, when birds need to be caught to be treated, banded or identified. But until now no study had been done to evaluate the risks to the birds.

That was a very interesting article.
I must say, the picture was quite disturbing. Very sad
I can certainly see where there would be wing injuries.

I agree about the picture, though according to results most netted birds, especially the smaller species, don't get injured.
It was vital that such a study was done to minimise the risk of injury to birds who need to be caught, in some cases in order to save them.
