| Sometime back I rescued a pigeon from starving to death and its now an indoor pet. He needs a mate so Im looking to adopt a Hen. Could anyone help me out ? I've tried my local Wildlife people they dont have any at the moment and Micaboo doesn't seem to have any Hen's either. Thanks in advance! | |

| Hi Pijipie, and welcome to the forum! It's always a great pleasure to have another member who rescues pigeons! Thank you for considering giving a loving home to another pidgie. We do have a very trusted member in Miami. She goes by the handle Angel, and she's already on the case! As soon as I hear any news, I'll let you know! | |

| Angel doesn't have a hen at the moment, just couples and boys. But Mickacoo may have one, "a sweet King Pigeon hen, and the weather will soon be cool enough to ship birds", according to Angel. (I love Kings, they're so pretty and so sweet-natured!) I've sent Elizabeth (the director of Mickacoo) a message. Hope something can be arranged. PS. Would love to see a photo of your pet pigeon! | |

For whatever reason, this is something the server has done, but it sure is annoying. I am sorry for the inconvenience.

| Hi Cindy no worries! New update, I sent my Pigeons feathers out for DNA testing just to make sure it was a cock ($24 test) should have the results Monday. I put a mirror in his cage and he LOVES standing in front of it so Im pretty sure its a Cock. I'll post the pictures up when it lets me | |

| Here is Goosie, named originally because I thought it was a Hen and it very well may but I'm leaning towards a Cock. This is a few weeks into being a Fledgling. He/She used to get all fluffed up when I would come to the cage. Now not so much, he always wants to land on my head!
(Since I can't post pics here are the links, just cut and paste into your browser) i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15/blk01s4/goose2.jpg
Here is the Goose with my good friend Matt i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15/blk01s4/matt_goose.jpg
Here is Goosie chillin after eatting his lunch time snack and taking a nap so cute! i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15/blk01s4/goos-chillin.png
Let me ask a off subject question. When I give Goosie Baths he drinks to much water and gets diarrhea. He also likes to dunk his head into the water coming out of the sink and drinks to much water there too! I know drinking to much water can be a sign of disease but he doesn't show any other signs of being sick. The diarrhea stops after bath time/sink time and hes eatting and drinking like normal and has normal droppings (slightly brown well formed). I just get worred and I'm not sure why he drinks so much water when bathing?

| I confess I'm quite puzzled at Goosie's drinking habits, as it doesn't seem (s)he is ill. Those very soft poops after drinking too much are just wet poops then. As to why, if it's not excessively hot or dry at the moment, I've only seen it happen once to a hen that was egg bound, and after she laid the egg (with a little help) her drinking habits got back to normal. Please keep us posted.
As for the male/female conundrum, Goosie looks rather like a girl... but the test will tell!

| Hello thanks for the reply, still no word from the DNA test. I'll see if its completed tomorrow. as for the droppings, none of the solid part is broken up like from the photos I've seen with a pigeon with a problem health wise. .. Very odd .. I've had to cut the Goose off when taking a bath! | |

| Hi Pijiepie, I don't think Elizabeth saw my message, as it arrived right in the middle of a very busy time. So I posted on Mickacoo's Facebook page, with a link to this thread. https://www.facebook.com/groups/160198601451/I didn't know you couldn't use fallen feathers for a DNA test. Shame you paid for the test and got no results. Are you going to try again, or just wait and see? | |
