Sorry, Pijiepie, I missed your post somehow...
Working very long hours at the moment!
My heart sank when I read the word 'Panacur'. Why do vets insist on prescribing it as a pigeon wormer when it is SO dangerous to pigeons?!!!
Definitely continue to give him the
Pro-Vital, that sounds perfect to help him recover and rebuild his immune system. Please also remove from his dish any broken seeds or anything that can be 'scratchy' while his intestines heal themselves.
I take it the first photo was taken before the second...? The dark reddish colour looks like it might contain dried blood. If it's no longer that colour, just let it be, otherwise it would be a good idea to give him an
antibiotic to prevent bacteria getting through the damaged intestinal wall and into the blood stream. (Synulox/Clavamox would be a good one to use, because it's very gentle on young and convalescent pigeons.)
Fenbendazole, the active principle in Panacur, and other meds of the same family, are toxic to pigeons, causing loss of weight, loss of white blood cells, loss of bone marrow, and damage the mucosa of the intestinal wall, causing diarrhea and malabsorption of the food. I have also found online a necropsy report attributing the death of an apparently healthy pigeon to Fenbendazole. In the right doses it can be toxic, and the smallest overdose is lethal.
In a study, ALL the pigeons treated against worms with one of these drugs fared WORSE than the control group, who had no treatment at all:
