| For several days I have had my eye on this bird. She always arrived with the flock morning and evening but she would stand away from them looking fluffed and acting sleepy ...not a good sign. Last evening, I watch as the flock left and she stayed behind, keeping herself standing by leaning against the chicken coop. I felt the opportunity to catch her had arrived and it didn't take much at all to corner her and pick her up. The first thing I noticed was her ice cold feet. She is also very thin...kind of like holding a bunch of feathers. She was so weak she could hardly stand up. Amazingly, she did have a small amount of seed in her crop. I brought her inside and put her in a kennel with a heating pad beneath her set on the lowest setting. After heating her thoroughly, I began the process of hydrating her which continued well into the night. Her throat is very swollen and I've started treating her for canker. I'm also givng her Albon oral suspension for coccidia. I'm also tube feeding her which she is tolerating very well. | |

| Glad you were able to catch her, Charis. Pretty little one, but in deed looking like she's . Please do keep us posted on how things are coming along. | |

| The poor thing! What is the dose of Albon that you use? And what are you using for the canker? | |

| The little sick Pigeon seemed to be doing better this morning. I fed her and she was more active than yesterday. She looked at herself in the mirror for the longest time. Then...she took a drink of water...the first time on her own...and staggered onto her towel...laid down and died. I couldn't believe my eyes.
Most often by the time I get a sick Pigeon, it's really sick and very thin. This one was no exception. The exception is that this one didn't make it and I'm not used to that, so It's caught me off guard. RIP little Sweetie. I wish I could have done more for you. I'd hoped to set you free. | |

| So sad... it's especially hard when they seem to have a good chance of getting better, seem to improve, and then suddenly depart this life. Fly free, little one. | |
