| Pij'ette was found on the street, dirty, fatigued and unable to fly. She was rescued by a very kind lady who notified me to see if I could take her in. Without hesitation, I accepted. On June 24, 2003, Pij'ette became a member of our family. It was obvious she had a wing injury that had healed over. I took her to a local rehabber to have it checked out. After removing a few small feathers a horrific abscess was discovered at the bend of her wing, which appeared to have gone untreated. The wound was cleaned and dressed and healed without further incident. Unfortunately, since the wound had not been addressed in a timely manner, the use of her wing is limited. Love at first sight: As soon as Mikko spotted Pij'ette (in her original state) he began pacing back and forth in his cage and cooing all the while. He could see her from across the room while she was in isolation. I don't think he ever took his eye off her except for while he was sleeping. And even then I think he kept one eye open. Eventually I placed their cages next to each other. I positioned their seed/grit and water dishes facing each other so they could 'dine' together. Their love continued to grow. We figured it was time for them to get a place they could call their own so into a very spacious apartment they went. From there they eventually moved into the aviary. A little over six years later, Pij'ette is getting along wonderfully. If she decides to venture from her area she will usually scale the side of the aviary. She prefers to sit on her wooden eggs. Here are a couple pictures. June 24, 2003September 13, 2003May 23, 2004 (Lovin' life)

| She was pretty tattered looking and definitely wasn't feeling any too chipper when she got to us. She was very timid and was just losing her 'squeaker' voice, so she was pretty young. if she had belonged to someone or was born a feral. | |

| What a lovely bird she is, and so full of life! I love those big dark eyes of hers! That was a great love story, by the way! I couldn't stop grinning at the thought of Pij'ette and Mikko 'dining' together in their adjoining cages. Too cute! | |

| Just by the luck of the draw, I was able to get a photo of everyone ' together'. It's not the best, but I figured I better not be too picky, given an opportunity like this may not come around again. Clockwise from the top, Mikko and Pij'ette (in the basket), Samantha (their daughter, lower right in the basket), Malio (their son-in-law and mate to Sadie is in front of Sam), Sadie (lower left corner with black marking is their other daughter), Dumpling (with brown markings, of which she's now solid white is their granddaughter) and Dolly, AKA Big D (standing on the brick is their grandson) | |

Thanks, Joe. Although her left wing doesn't extend properly she does well. Thanks again. I'm grateful I was able to get the picture. | |

| Louise. This is another photo that I love and was very fortunate to get it (again not the best quality but certainly doable). Three generation Grandpa Mikko in the middle, son-in-law Malio on the right and grandson Dolly on the brick. | |
