I went into the city center on Sunday to feed the pigeons in a pedestrian street. There isn't a large number of them, but my friend Barry used to feed them and says that one of the shop owners had sworn at him and that he suspects the pigeons are getting themselves in trouble there, so I try to be discreet and hope the pigeons will also be discreet.
When I got to the place that I feed them it was pretty much deserted, but a sidewalk cafe was open. All the tables were empty except for one right in the middle . Right in the centre of the middle table there were two pigeons. Just being there was bad enough as it would give the cafe owner the excuse to claim they are a health hazard, but these two pigeons took it even further. They started an enthusiastic mating session and when that was done they went for an encore.
John and I have often discussed the leaflet that we would issue to pigeons if they could read. That would include simple instructions like "Don't all flock down at once when there is food...do it in small groups" and "Keep off the road , cars are more dangerous than hawks". I can see that now we have to add another appropriate warning. :For Shame:
