No he wasn't. She was gone for a few days.

| Poor thing, I hope he will recover completely! I don't think the left upper leg looks right -- in looking for a possible abcess I would start there. The toes seem to have got worse with time, which suggests an injury/abcess on the leg rather than on the toes themselves. Thank you for rescuing this pigeon, and the underpass babies, in addition to your other ones! | |

| Sorry for the long silence on this thread. Injured-Wing pigeon has been doing well, and has recovered as much as he's going to. I took him to the vet earlier this month (the wonderful Dr. Latas at Arizona Bird Clinic.) The diagnosis was that he'll never be able to fly again -- his wing injury actually took off the tip of his wing, where the primary flight feathers grow from. His good wing has been getting stronger as he attempts to compensate, and he can fly two or three feet, but that's about it. Whatever caused the wing injury also caused some neurological damage, which accounts for the wierd stuff with his foot.
It looks like he'll be able to lead a happy productive life in an aviary, so I need to start looking for a home for him. I'll be posting some pictures and videos of him in a new thread in the adoption forum soon (along with some of the other members of the "mini-flock" who are ready to move on to new homes...)

| That's great news! Thanks for the update, Jim, it was great having news of the little fellow. It's a pity he won't be able to fly, but he can still have a very good life for all that! | |

It looks like he may have found a girlfriend amongst the "mini-flock." I'd like to wait a few days and see if things work out for the two of them; it would be nice if he could arrive at his new home with a mate, ready to start a new life together...
