| At times our Pigons will lay very small eggs. While doing a search today, I found this articel about mini eggs in chickens. I suspect the cause is the same for Pigeons. Everyone that encounters this, is fascinated as to whether there is a little tiny chick inside. Mini Eggs Written by James Young Saturday, 25 October 2008 12:04 A mini egg can sometimes be laid that is about quarter of the usual size. This usually doesn't have a yolk inside it, but it is filled with ‘white' or albumen. This does not trigger the start or end of lay. Normally only one of these is laid so it is nothing to worry about. Causes. A small foreign object enters the oviduct and ‘triggers' the normal formation of an egg, as a yolk would. . http://poultrykeeper.com/common-articles-to-all-poultry/health/mini-eggs.html | |

| That's really interesting! So it answers the question whether it would originate a very small chick -- apparently not, if it only contains egg white! I've never seen one of those. | |

| Would this count as a mini egg? Sammy and Gully had these in their nest. Of course they were replaced with wooden eggs. But it was so odd that I took a pic. | |

| Yes, I think it would. I've found those at times. Once I found one that was really tiny. | |

Yes, I noticed that too. Don't know why. They get Hi-Cal grit, and oyster shell. And believe me, Gully loves the grit. I actually think she eats too much at times. She loves it. You would think it was safflower seed, or peanuts! | |

| Maybe buy vitamin with D. They need the D to absorb the calcium. | |
