Subject: OMG, OMG, OMG, Hercules used his bad leg!!! Mon Apr 26, 2010 8:06 pm
He didn't 'walk' properly on it, more like he used his bad leg as a crutch, but it's the most exciting thing I've seen him do since the plaster came off! He's gone back to sleep now, but tomorrow I'll try to get a video of him doing it -- presuming, of course, he's going to repeat the feat!

Angel, your post just reminded me that I hadn't posted the promised video of Hercules using his bad leg as a crutch...
But today I got a better one: For the first time since his last operation, Hercules stood on both legs for short periods of time! Well, he stands on the back of his left foot rather than on the sole, but it's still a big step!

Here he is, my little monster, using his bad leg as a crutch! The surgeon says this could be the first step towards a fuller use of that leg, as sensitivity returns to the toes.
In this video, he's trying to court both Sammy and Pippin, with Piper looking on! :eek: What a rascal!

Hercules is looking absolutely wonderful, Teresa. Bless his little 'monster' heart. Thinking back at the photos of him with all the pins and such and seeing him today brings tears of joy to my eyes.

I bet he will get better. Jay's Scooter is improving, with the splay leg, over time too. It's pretty cute how he doesn't miss a beat of his antics.

I still get a heart pang remembering Scooter's early photos, poor baby! I loved seeing the last photo Jay posted of him -- he looks wonderful!

Ah, but he's very good eating his greens! I tell all my little ones that they must eat their salad like uncle Hercules! In fact, he's got his own plant pot, attached to the inside of the cage, so he can eat the seedlings as they come up -- he loves that!
