Hi, I found a mourning dove by my pigeon coop. I brought it in the house and I am going to hand-feed it for a while and see if it gets stronger. Here are some pics:

Should I give it any medicines? Should I put I it on a heating pad? I never have taken care of a mourning dove squab before. Thanks in advance. :)

Did you see mom and dad about? This is just the age that she should leave the nest.
If mom and dad are around...is there a reason why you brought her inside?

No, I did not see the mom or dad. It can't fly and we have dogs, one of the dogs almost got it that's why I brought it in.

That was the right thing to do then.
Do put the baby on a heating pad set on low and thoroughly warm her before you feed her.
Can you feel any food in her crop?

What a little cutie.
I think you did the right thing to bring her inside. It sounds like she was at risk out there.

She really is a youngster. Her tail isn't even half grown yet.

If you don't find anything wrong, I would guess she left, or got booted out of, the nest a little early and needs a bit more 'growing up' time inside. Smile

I would also suggest you give her food and water and clean her living quarters but don't handle her anymore than need be.

Please keep us posted on how things are going.

Ok...thoroughly warm her...hydrated her and then you can start hand feeding with exact.
I would thin she could tolerate 7ccs per feeding. Perhaps someone with more dove experience can confirm that.
Keep a deep dish with seed in her cage and a dish with water too. Please remove the water during the night.
Likely you will need to show her how to eat .
