Poor little guy arrived a couple of hours ago

Any changes today???? For the better I hope

Robin the bird is alert...food is moving though and I just gave him the 4th dose of antibiotic.
He does seem a bit better to me.
My plan of action is to complete this course of antibiotic, which will be another 6 days. If he is still debilitated...wait 5 days and then have a culture done. It would be senseless to have a culture done at this point because the bird is on antibiotic thus killing all good/bad bacteria.

I'm delighted to let you all know that the little guy seems to have turned a corner and is acting much better this evening. I suspect the antibiotics are making a difference.

I honestly don't know the gender of this bird and I know you will think I'm crazy but...I've named the bird Pearl. The reason I have done that is because the bird was rescued form the neighborhood called...The Pearl .

I'm so happy to hear that the antibotic has kicked in and that this little one is showing definate signs of improvement.

Pearl is a lovely name.

Good news...Pearl made an attempt to give me a wing slap this morning....it was feeble but the intent was very clear.

Wing slapping is always a most positive sign

I think Pearl is definately on the road to recovery.

Pearl is very alert this morning and even made an attempt to preen. She also tried to fly which I think she could have done had I not stopped her. She still is very wobbly on her feet.

No interest yet in eating on her own but she does drink water when I offer it.

Some times it's just baby steps that take us where we need to go.

It's been just about a week since Pearl arrived here, looking totally broken.

Today, she moved into a cage, with her donut for balance as she still is having problems walking.
I put some seed on the floor of the cage and to my surprise, she got herself to them and ate them all. After she finished...of course I gave her some more and then she made the first sounds I've heard from her...a squeaker noise.
For the time being, I will close her into a small kennel for night time and put her in the cage during the day. I think it's good for her emotional well being to be able to see what else is going on.

It's always a good sign when they scarf up their seeds.
It sounds like Pearl is doing good.

I'm so very glad that Pearl is eating seeds & walking to get them She's on her way to good health.

She actually tried to give me a little peck, a few minutes ago. She still has a hard time standing and is very wobbly. Even that has improved in the last week.

It's very good news, that she's getting feisty! And eating her seed, and squeaking for more!
