| Well the article clearly states that you cannot feed them or harbor them, which would include taking in injured birds to help them. Sad. | |

| Pigeon feaces is actually profitable. I can't remember what country it is exactly, but people PAY for pigeon feaces because it's used in tanning leather.
Not that I agree with leather, but instead of showing a disregard for the pigeons they could make money out of their droppings that are supposedly a nuisance to them.

The problem, in part, seems to be with extermination companies that exploit pigeons to make a profit form exterminating them. It's dishonest and very sad. Pigeons do make quite a mess though and for people that have never made a personal connection with one, or understand how amazing pigeon really are, it is easy to see that the droppings are bothersome. Humans fail to recognize their own short comings and blame the poor pigeons of just what we humans do. After all, we humans are master liter makers and seldom pick up after ourselves.

| Well, they could scrape up all that poop and save money on fertilizer for their parks! It's unbelievable that feeding and, especially, harbouring, should not be allowed... | |

| I forgot about fertiliser, too...but then they'll say "oh but they're disease carrying rats with wings" Even though they don't have many diseases that can be transferred to us anyway and we carry more harmful diseases ourselves! | |

Way back when, pigeon droppings were used in gunpowder. In the 17th century, King George I of England, decreed all pigeon droppings to be property of the Crown—and the “lofts” were policed to enforce the law! (Pigeon manure was used in making gunpowder)Pigeon Facts It's number 27.

| Just imagine, if the pigeons figured out how to make gunpowder, a lot of pigeon-haters would be in for a shock!! | |

And don't forget that people are totally fine with cleaning up cat poop and dog poop on a daily basis, how is pigeon poop any different?

| Well if people are cleaning up cat or dog poop on a daily basis. Then these are their pets. That's the difference. Pigeons pooping on stuff, and they are not even your pets is a different matter. If you don't think so, then ask a neighbor who has other people walking their dogs and allowing them to poop on his lawn, if he doesn't mind picking it up, or if it infuriates him. Same thing for neighbors cats when they poop in your garden. I personally love pigeons, but in being fair, I can see both sides. | |
