That's very interesting...and also very sad. And we haven't learned our lesson yet either. Very sad Just the other day there was a story in the local paper here about wild turkeys being reintroduced after a century of absence. People are now complaining that they are dirty, dangerous, and a nuisance. They don't seem to have any interest in learning to live with wildlife. If we could bring the passenger pigeon back it wouldn't have a place to live. And the program that reintroduced the turkeys is being called a success because now there's a hunting season for them. What a lovely bird. The colors and body sleekness are beautiful. Yes, it is sad and maddening that this occurred because of
man's disrespect to nature. Disappointed Unfortunately, it continues today.

I have many wild turkeys roaming the property daily. Whatever mess they make is nothing compared to the beauty of these birds walking around just enjoying themselves. They are worth whatever mess they make.

I'm not into cloning but would be if some how we could bring the Passenger Pigeon back!

An excuse for killing them is that people say they are stupid. I rescued a baby this past summer and took her to a refuge. She was anything but stupid, as if stupid would be a good excues in the first place!

Humans should evaluate themselves because this is very dangerous excuse. No other creature destroys environment it lives in as humans. Ain't that stupid?

Another creature extinct because of the same excuse.
