| It is with such a heavy heart that I say goodbye to one of my sweet baby doves. Baxter passed away yesterday. I haven't any idea what went wrong.. he showed no signs of illness whatsoever... and it was only 11 hours before he passed that he was cuddled in my lap. I have spent a sleepless night .... wondering why I failed to know he was ill....and how I did not see it... makes me sad. None the less I say goodbye with tears today... to somone who left this world way to early and I'm sorry Baxter! I love you no matter where your wings carry you! I'm sorry my sweet lil' buddy.. I hope you can forgive me.... I love you! | |

| Jenn I'm so sorry to hear about Baxter. Sometimes this happens and we never know why. I have had very healthy animals that have been with me from birth one day they are happy & acting normal then the next they are gone. We always have necropsies done and the vet can find nothing wrong, some the vet finds what they think is a genetic abnormality, one just never knows. Many animals hide their illness very well also, exotics & birds seem to do this all the time. Please don't find fault in the way your caring for animals, could be that God needed Baxter and most likely greeted him with a loving embrace. I'll say a prayer for your lil' guy. | |

| Oh Jenn...honey girl...I'm so very sorry. You are so very in tune with your family members and I believe that there is no way you could have known. Robin's explaination makes the most sense to me... Please don't find fault in the way your caring for animals, could be that God needed Baxter and most likely greeted him with a loving embrace.

| I agree with them, Jenn.
Baxter was needed on the other side of the Bridge - lucky for them that YOU - albeit, unknowingly - had him ready!

| Jenn.............I am so very sorry for your loss of Baxter. I agree with both Robin and Charis. There was no way you could have known. You are so in touch with all your animals If there was anything to be seen or noticed you would not have missed it. Take comfort in all the joy that Baxter brought you and the knowledge that Bakter knew how much he was loved while he was with you. Fly Free and High Little Baxter Louise | |

| I truly mean this when I say ... I love ya all.. Thank you ALL so much for making me smile... Thank you! I just feel terrible and I know that we will all be called home someday..... He was not even 1 yet. just my baby... I know he is where he is needed most and so I must smile that he IS. Thank you so much.. I feel bad for baby Baya.. he was her everything! I spent a lot of time w/her today..... I know I will need to find a mate for her.. I don't want her to become withdrawn.... and she seems so lonely today... perhaps only because I feel that way ... ... | |

Jenn, It's said that ringneck doves will definitely mourn the loss of a mate for about three weeks or thereabouts. I also have a mated hatchling ringneck pair and there's no doubt that they are more attached to each other than their unrelated parents are (who are very well bonded to each other, too). So though they surely do pick up on how we feel, with someone as empathetic as you are, I believe you are right in thinking that she is feeling lonely and are wise to give her as much attention as you can while you find a new mate for her. I'd bet anything that there's a perfect "someone" lurking around to be found at just the right moment, too. Love and Best wishes, Carol

| Jenn...I was just going through my desk and cleaning out. Odd that I should run across a poem called, Free, just at this time. It was written by Danielle Steel and my older sister cut it out of a magazine for me in the late 1970's. It's been in my desk ever since. Here is a potion of it that I want to share with you... I know that he was always free. gone now... gone to your own sun, far from mine, far from here now, much beloved bird, fly well, soar high, go free. | |

| Jen I'm so sorry. I just read this tribute to little Baxter, so so sad for you. Everyone has said such beautiful things which echo what I'd want to say. The words from the poem Charis posted are perfect, I can only send you my love and best wishes. Janet | |

| Jenn - I feel terribly sorry for your loss It brings back the sad memories of losing also 2 babies this year - the first one not showing any illness either. There are reasons we will never know - but it is NOT YOUR FAULT ! It may have been a very short time for your love but he knew - I am sure. The sorrow will subside one day - the love remains forever... | |

| Jenn, I'm so sorry that little Baxter was taken from you, and in such an unexpected way! But please don't add feelings of guilt to the sadness and shock you feel at this parting. Clearly there was nothing that you could have done, he probably had a weak heart, poor darling! I hope that the great memories you have of him and the knowledge that he passed peacefully and is now free forever, will be balms for your pain and your tears. Fly free, sweet Baxter! | |
