PostSubject: My new baby boy   My new baby boy Icon_minitimeFri Sep 23, 2011 3:43 am

Found another baby pigeon on sunday, he was under a very tall bridge by a main road, as i was driving past i spotted him and picked him up as i knew if i left him he would get squashed by a car or eaten by animals, i asume his nest was at the top of the bridge as i could see little pigeon heads poking out of a gap at the top but there was no way he could get back up there it was to high. His crop was empty too so maybe his mum wasnt coming to feed him either so i picked him up and brought him home, he is great he love people and want to just sit with you constantly he loves sitting on my sholder grooming my face he squeeks at you when he is hungry and tries pecking my mouth to get me to feed him. At first i was having to force feed but he now happily take the peas straight from my fingers he has also started pecking on his own i think he looks like a 5 week old will post a pic soon and see if everyone agrees Smile
He love it when i pigeon talk to him he always squeeks back. He hates going to bed he always wants to come straight back out. He seem to have really bonded well.
Also it makes a change but i couldnt find any unwanted guests on him which nomally they are covered in them but as usual have still treated him just in case. He seems very healthy was a little thin but is feeling a lt better weight now.
The next day on the monday i drove past where i found him and saw what looked like a baby pigeon same colour as my baby in the road he had sadly been run over i wounder if it was my babys brother or sister.
my little baby is not realy attempting to fly he has done a little bit of fluttering so weather they fell out the nest or possibly mum has been killed and they have fallen out in search of food.
It is really upsetting to see a run over pigeon its so sad, there is no need for that to happen but some people dont care and i wish i had managed to get to the other baby sooner before it had been killed.
But at least this little boy (well i think he is a boy Laughing ) is safe .

One last thing id like to say is its nice to be back havnt had chance to post on here for a while have been so busy with work and sadly my beautiful rescue barnowl past away last month Very sad he is greatly missed he was 17 years.

Hi Cammypigeon,
It's lovely to 'see' you again! Failing all else, here's a hug for you Universal hug for the loss of your beloved barn owl and of the poor baby pigeon that was a victim of traffic. They have Someone else to look after them now, they're happy and safe.
Just as your rescued baby is happy and safe in your care.
I loved reading about him, have you chosen a name yet? Would love to see a photo, baby pigeons are just the sweetest things!

What a little star Bert is!!! Star quality

So funny, the picture of him in the bath, where he was splashing about so much he got out of ficus! That's too funny He must have been having a wonderful time!

His feathers are still growing, and maybe they're growing unevenly, but his chin and bib look a bit bald -- best watch out for any signs of canker, as sometimes the two things go together. Are his poops alright?

That's great!
They often feather out unevenly at first, i even saw one that looked like he had a zipper down his front! Laughing But it's good to play safe.
