I envy your cool calm way of dealing with every bird who turns up in need of help, it's quite inspiring.
If I had a big enough T shirt, ( and a private plane of course) I'd have tucked you up and given you a warm hot meal. I love it/them and if I had any sun, I'd send that too, but we're sadly lacking in that here at the moment . :Rolling eyes:

Soon I'll run out os space if this continues in the same numbers like now.
Patience, well this birds have only me, I can't afford to run out of it, besides they are the only thing keeping me sane in this crazy life.

Teresa, T-shirt must be in really neutral colors to withstand poop, poridge, bleach, and many other substances that get on me during the day.

The dove that was on antibiotics, didn't make it. Not feeling well
Last two days, each day I'm finding dead doves in the garden, no visible signs of illness. Well groomed feathers and normal weight. They just fall from the branch they were sleeping on.

It may be worth while to send body in for a necropsy so you will find out what you are dealing with.

So sorry to hear this. Very sad

Hmmm Just an idea but since its been sooo very wet there could the deaths be due to mold? The doves eating moldy food ? Or drinking bad water?

Seems to me that if many are just dropping dead that it must be something they all have contact with? Or maybe a virus due to the fact that evrything is so wet?

Good thoughts to ponder, Robin.

There is no place to send them for autopsy. I left dishes of clean water all over the garden, feeding them with quality food, but there are so many of them one cannot control what they eat and drink. I can’t do anything before they are grounded and in this situation it is to late. Last night I could not sleep and went out in the garden few times to check if I can save any. Still at four in the morning the one I found was already cold.

No you cannot.

Is there a veterinary college in SA that you can send a body to? Wouldn't a vet know?

Plamenh I do understand that this is out of your control.

I hope you didn't misunderstand my words... sometimes I talk, or write in this case, before I think and I was just trying to find reasons or a reason why this might be happening. Hmmm

I don't get converse face to face with people too often and have the habit of speaking my mind without censorship. Embarassed

Robin, you don't need to worry, I just shared with you feeling of desperation, sorrow and helplessness.
I’m fully aware that even if I know the cause of their deaths, there is very little I can do to prevent anything.
Fortunately yesterday weather stayed dry and sunny. This morning there were no victims. I really hope that rain is over.
Charis, I tried in the past but no one would show any interest. Vets are to busy with pets and farm animals and they do not have facilities for viral tests (most of them for bacterial too). Death of 8 Senagal doves will cause no worries and no sensation.

Finding that many dead in such a short amount of time would indicate, to me, that these little guys found something, whatever it may be, that was tainted with mold, etc., given all the unusual rain you have been having.

Poison would be another 'far shot' thought. However around here doves are not the choice of target. I don't know about SA.

Whatever caused the deaths, it's a crying shame and I am so sorry. Very sad

I'm glad your weather is clearing up, Plamenh. Feeling great
I hope you don't have any further incidents. 🇳🇴

I noticed plenty of mushrooms in the garden, something really unusual. It may be poisonous spores or something. Mould is possibility too as it is hot and humid, ideal mould conditions. I placed ACV in waterers today. Day was extremely hot without rain, so hopefully things get better.
