Well I hope he does find a good home for her because she should be someones pet. She's cute, and he worked so hard to help her.

There was a bit of a scare with this baby yesterday. Jim and I had talked about giving her spartrix, which he did. ...ten minutes later she threw up and did the same in the morning.

Luckily, Jim was able to get her into see Dr. Latas and she did a fecal exam and a throat culture and is having a lab culture the bacteria she found. She gave Jim and oral doxycycline.
Let's pray that the baby responds.

Last I heard from Jim this morning, she is able to keep her food down. I'm hoping Jim will give us an up date soon. He sounded pretty busy today, though.

All of us here are sending loving healing thoughts & prayers for the baby to get better.

We could possibly give her a home once she recovers & gets a bit older Hmmm

I actually have a backlog of pictures and videos of this little pigeon that I have been meaning to post (and will soon) but in the mean time, I was hoping for a little help addressing a health issue. After her vomiting episode in March, she was treated with doxycycline and recovered, seemingly completely. Since she didn't want to eat when she was on the Idoxycycline, I had to put herback on formula for the duration of her treatment, and she was quite resistant to going back to feeding herself. Fortunately, the two babies that I talked about here:

https://pij-n-angels.forumotion.net/pigeon-rescue-suspect-injury-f6/pigeon-with-injured-wing-t1509.htm

started eating on their own at about this time, and, as long as I put down food for her and the babies together, she would compete with them and try to gobble up the food before they get it. To this day, that is still the only way I can get her to eat sometimes. Once she gets started thogh, she'll eat fine on her own for a few hours.

In any event, ever since she got off the doxycycline, her poops have always been a bit off. Based on my verbal description, Charis had recommended medistatin, suspecting a yeast infection, but I wanted to post actual pictures, just to be sure:

What does everyone think? Yeast? Or something else? Other than her poops looking off, she seems very healthy and happy, although she really isn't growing as fast as I would like.

There really isn't a lot of stool in her droppings. I'd be inclined to start her on baytril. Let's see if anyone else has some ideas.

I don't know, Jay but I'm thinking bacterial again. Maybe the medication the doctor gave her didn't completely cure her and now it's come back. I think yeast could be a problem too. Frustrating. I just DON'T get it

For what its worth, her poops looked relatively normal before she was treated with doxycycline. So I was thinking it might be related to a suppression of her natural healthy bacteria. Does it look like this could be a yeast infection?

If it is a yeast infection, then wouldn't Baytril make it worse? Should nystatin be given? And maybe probiotics?

Medistatin, is the pigeon product version, of the human nystatin.

What is the Baytril for?

Never mind. Went back and reread. You think it may be bacterial. Okay. Probiotics afterwards. How long on Baytril?

Baytril for 10 days..at least that's what I'd do if the bird was in my care.

Trying to keep your flock member straight, Jim. Is this Buffy ? If so, her culture came back as staph infection...right?
