Baby pigeon rescued in Bucuresti, Romania

Hello,

I found a happy story on Facebook. There is an association of volunteers in Bucharest, Romania who rescues stray animals, ROBI: http://www.4animals.ro/ As some of you may know, Romania has been notorious for its stray cats and dogs problem since communism. Well, these people at ROBI just found a baby pigeon and rescued it since it would definitely fall prey to the stray cats or dogs. It seems about 5 days old. Here are the pics:

They do not have much experience with baby pigeons so I am in contact with them. I already referred them to an old friend of mine in Romania who has cared for pigeons his whole life. I will keep you posted :)

It's adorable baby. Looks to me to be about 12 days old.

I'm also suspicious that the baby has canker which is caused by a single cell parasite and easily treated....99% of all pigeons have it. Babies with canker often have places on their face where the feathers are sparce or don't come in at all. If untreated, it can be deadly.

Have them look to see if they can buy metronidazole in Romania. If they weight the baby and you tell me the weight, I can give you the dose I would use.

That's great. It's wonderful to a have a contact there for any ohters pigeons we may hear about. Collectively,we can talk the rescue though most issues they may encounter with this baby.
Will you ask fot their contact info for the resource list and if it's ok to add them?
