Sweetie is continuing to show small signs of improvement thismorning.

She is totally alert now and makes a real effort not to be bundled up for feeding. She is eating and pooping well. The weird swallowing motions following feeding appear to have decreased some thismorning. I'm assuming that the Flagyl is working at attacking the canker that must certainly be down her entire throat.

She is still sitting all fluffed up, but the slightest improvement each day I feel is a blessing :Yes:

Fabulous news! ...

Sweetie is feeling so very much better today. :Yes: She has completely stopped the pengiun stace, is very alert and starting to move around on her own.

I sure gave her the right name...........She is soooooo sweet.

I sent a video to Charis......hopefully she will be able to post it. You would never know that she is a wild feral adult. When she finishes her feeding she walks across the kitchen counter and goes right back into her little house all one her own.

I am so encouraged with her improvement........I'm almost convinced she is going to make it.

Sweetie continues to improve

I believe the Flagyl is working at addessing the canker and opening up her throat. I am now able to syringe a full cc at a time and she has no problem swallowing it. She is also up to 20cc's per feeding.

I am going to try some defrosted peas later today and see how she handles it.

The weird swallowing motions in her neck and crop following feeding are still there, however, they are not as severe as before.

I have called Dr.Hauck's office and have an appointment for 9:30AM tomorrow morning. I want to get Dr. Hauck's opinion and see if he wants to adjust/change or add any additional meds for her. I could have got her in today, but since this is no longer an emergency and Dr. Hauck was so busy today following the long weekend, I thought it best to wait till tomorrow.

I am so happy with her improvement. This little girl was in such a critical state when I found her, I had serious concerns for her survival. This once again is another testament as to how resilient these birds are.

Ah Louise, I just came to read this thread. It reads like a thriller story and now i believe it will have a happy end. I am so glad that little Sweetie is recovering. She so very much reminds me of Alice and the bad condition she was in - so emaciated and so light that you hardly noticed her weight on your hand at all. And look now - she is the mate of our Jimi and in full "bloom".

Your caring and love will make her healthy again. It is wonderful to know that you found her before it was too late.
