| I can't believe it... yesterday he was eating from my hand and helping me catch a string injury, and this afternoon he was huddled up on the ground under my window, flightless and very cold. I brought him in, checked him (nothing unusual), put him in a warm nest for half an hour... and when I was going to give him Flagyl and some electrolytes he'd passed away. Not a sign of anything wrong with him, what a miserable waste of his dear life! | |

| I'm sorry. It's so hard when you have no warning...completely blows you away. He was another great actor in the art of masking his illness. | |

| Thank you, Charis. When I finished work I had a good look around my area and the park for any other birds in trouble, but found none. At least that much is good news. The hen Gallahad brought to me is on Baytril and Flagyl. I hope that protects her from harm. | |

| I hope so too. Give her nystatin for yeast, if you can. | |

| I am so sorry, Teresa. It's so hard to know what's going on with these little guys sometimes. | |

| So sorry Teresa I know when something like this happens we always look for reasons and the not knowing is hard to digest. These birds have such an ability to hide their illness that when this happens without any warning it becomes such a shock to us. Gallahad was a wonderful little guy who knew he was loved and you did everthing you could for him. I hope his mate will be ok. Louise | |

| Thank you all so much!
Charis, I'll add Nystatin on to her meds as from now. Thanks for the advice!

| Teresa, I'm so sorry for Gallahad... It's really sad losing a beloved animal so suddenly and unexpectedly... But is it sure he had an illness...? Could it not be that he died of old age, or the cold, or an accident (if he flew against a hard surface...)? Whatever was the reason of his death, I hope his soul is in the arms of God! Irene | |

| I'm sorry Teresa. That's sad. And yes, it does drive you crazy in wondering what happened to him. | |

Thank you for your kind word, Irene. I've racked my brains for answers, and I think it could only be an illness or poison. He was only 2 years old, really big and strong when compared to most of the others, our temperatures haven't dropped below 7ÂșC (upper 40s F) at night, and there wasn't a mark or injury on him. That's what made it so sad.
