I want to help it but at the same time i dont want to get any sickness or disease it has and my neighboors have alot of cats and im the only person that has a dog but should i put it in my yard ? if its not to hard also can you give me the link or more perferably the phone number to a Wildlife refuge. Please reply to me as soon as you can!
Thanks, Ima Saver (Desiree) Desiree, please let us know your location. Without it, we won't know which rehabber/sanctuary is closest to you. Thank you for doing your best to help this poor bird, we'll do our best to help! With very rare exceptions, pigeon diseases aren't contagious to humans or animals other than birds (that's just what extermination cmpanies say to get people's business), and anyway what you've got there is an injured bird. If he is sick, it will be because the wing is now infected, and he must be very weak if he hasn't eaten for 3 days. Please keep him indoors in a large cardboard box with some breathing holes, with newspaper on the bottom and a bowl of water until someone can help you. Outside, he doesn't stand a chance. | |

| Welcome to Pigeon Angels, Desiree. Many thanks for helping this injured pigeon. As Teresa as asked, we need to know your general location in order to help you find some assistance. Could you tell us a little more about the injuries? A picture or two will help as well. It's good that he is drinking. I would suggest replacing the plain water with some rehydration solution (to a cup of room temperature water add just a pinch of salt and sugar). Offer it to him as you were the plain water. Although hydration is most important, he needs to be eating. What have you offered him? | |
