| About Abby: The wing wasn't broken, would you believe it! But it was horribly dislocated: the humerus had been wrenched out of the elbow joint. The vet says we can't predict anything yet, but there is a small chance she may be able to use that wing again. The swelling of the elbow was a hematoma and not an abcess. It acted as a cork to prevent further bleeding at the time. There's been no recent bleeding, not even when the hematoma was cleaned out. Her wing has been treated and bandaged, and she's to have the bandage changed every week. In two week's time she'll have another X-ray to see how it's progressing. | |

| Abby is one contented little pidge in her cosy nest at the moment, having given the vet the runaround today by slipping out of her bandage twice! I hope she's had enough of that kind of fun, because it takes me 40 minutes to get there, and another 40 to get back, and the house doesn't clean itself! Piper and Hercules are eating my house! They have two different types of grit, plus oyster shell, but they prefer to eat the walls! I suppose you can take the pigeons out of the street, but you can't take the street out of the pigeons... :Rolling eyes: Their handiwork -- note the shower curtain on the cage (to stop incoming ferals pooping on the residents ) extends over the back (to stop the residents eating the wall). In one single outing to exercise, they did this: On the other hand, Henry the Navigator, the seagull squeaker I brought home recently... is doing fine at the marine animal rescue centre! He's eating by himself and learning to fly in the company of a couple of adults. He's put on weight and will soon be ready to be released! | |

| Teresa. Did you inform Piper and Hercules the cost for repairs to the wall are going to come out of their seed fund. | |

Here we have to keep the parrot cages well away from any wood work BUT pigeons too!!! Thats a new one for me. I didn't know that about parrots either! In the past I hadn't believed a woman who said that pigeons damaged the walls of old buildings 'mining' for grit -- until I caught this pair of vandals at it! On the first photo you can see pitting on the wall, the evidence of previous hasty repairs. And I had no idea what was causing that, thinking it was the damp Spring! One of these days, instead of shouting at them, 'Stop it, you little rotters, or you go back in the cage!' I'll video them doing it! | |

| Fresh off the press: Mac, the most serious of this year's string injuries is doing great! And sweet baby Charlie still comes home for tea when I don't go on the roof to feed her from my hand! | |

| I've offended Sammy this morning... I saw a tissue beside her nest and thought, 'What's this doing here? This tissue was under the microfiber blanket in Pippin's nest!' So I picked it up -- and Sammy went nuts pecking at my hand! I put it back quickly, and she started rearranging it, giving me dirty looks and grumbling all the while. My daughter couldn't stop laughing. 'Mother, you vandal! She had it all sorted, all Feng-Shuied, and now she's got to do it all over again!' PS. Would you believe it, she just threw the tissue out of the nest! | |

| I'm sorry for laughing Teresa BUT Its just too funny! Do you think putting a sheet on the floor and sprinkling seeds on it would help them stop? It reminds me of the pigeons in the parks & side walks that pick around looking for bits & pieces. | |
