I'm Soooo sorry... I have been incredibly busy this Summer! It is crazy to think I have to begin teaching Ryland in just a little over 3 weeks away! Where did it go??

We have redone some of our bird room to give some of our boys some extra room.. so now we officially have the
Bachelor High rise! As both babies ended up being none other than BOYS! geesh.. were are the hens?? I have only one hen!!! Pijie hen that is!


Baya and Phoenix are just so sweet. Phoenix LOVES to be HELD! Ryland holds him everyday and he literally just eats it up.He sits in Rye's lap and just snuggles down while Rye scratches his head. He eats that up! He is a good lil' husband for Baya... and always so polite to her it just literally WARMS my ! I have figured out by watching Phoenix how he gets up and down the ladders. and As I watched him he still seemed to struggle getting up the side of the ladder... which is how he goes up and down. SO I got out my sewing machine awhile ago and made fleece slip covers for the ladders... like little pillow cases..and now he zips right up and down. He also has gained much FLYING confidence and will regularly show off for his Girl! He's a macho bird! He climbs up to his lil' shelf and then will side spin himself off and flap his wing to bottom.. and HE has figured out how to land on his feeties!! YAY! and he still LOVES to sit on his eggs don't tell him I said it but::: I think he's a tad smitten with being a hubby! It suits him well! He actually kicks Baya off by nudging her and when she wont move, he preens her face ever so gently to get her up and off!. I have been trying to get a video of them, because it is just adorable to see them so happy. SO it's in the works!

We also have a family of Doves who visits our outside feeder and when it was cooler Phoenix would coo to them.. and they would coo back! They come religiously everyday! I have been waiting SO LONGGGGGGGGG for them to find our feeder and now I get to see them everyday! One even comes right up on the patio by us!

What a nice update. Thanks. The slipcovers for the ladder sound like a great idea. That must make it much easier for him. You'll have to post pics when you can.
Hard having more males than females. I have two extra females, and that is bad enough. Worse when the extras are males. Good luck with that one!

I have to tell you Cindy .. Phoenix is always the topic when it comes to the birds because he just does the sweetest darn things. He is precious in so many ways. He loves his Baya and Baya loves her Phoenix. SO much so that she never roost on the upper most perch where he can't get to. She always stays lower to be right by him. Even when they are out, Baya will do her flight and then land always on the floor to be with Phoenix. She used to always perch on top of one of the cages on the carpets, BUT not anymore! Those two just make my heart MUSH!

Phoenix and his Princess Baya Feb. 2011.

These two make such a sweet pair. Baya has realized that Phoenix can't fly and so she follows him around wherever he goes. I placed a swing ((Bayas Fav)) on the perch closest to the ground. It is only a few cm off the perch, so if Phoenix wants try to get on it he can. So far, he has tried a few times and then decides it not his cup a tea! Ryland continues to spoil Phoenix to pieces and he now coos to Rye! LOL! Heres video of him and Baya, and you can see that with a few modifications hes feels quite PROUD being the birdman of his cage!

I could watch those two forever.

They are sooo sweet! I love watching them too!

They're just precious together. It sure worked out great for him. When you think of all the that he's been through, and all the steps to get to where he is now. Sometimes there is a plan, and we are just not aware of it. It makes me feel so happy just watching them together. Such a great success story. I love the cover on the ladder. Great idea.

I know. When you watch him now, doesn't seem like the same bird. Thank God!

When he was brought to me the owner kept saying all he does is shake and that is all he did.
He would start to tremble everytime I walked into the AZ room. It broke my heart.

Over time though, he broke lose from that and began cooing like no body's business.
He would help me clean his cage, hop on my hand and loved sitting on top of his cage.
He turned into a completely different bird.

Awe! he still helps! LOL. Except now its his job to herd Baya up on the perch because we lift their cage down to the floor while they sit perched on their rope! It makes me sad to think he was so afraid of humans...today you'd never be able to tell that, thank goodness. Which is a tribute to you, Cindy and Chuck too!

Cindy, he was where he needed to be when he was with you. It was one more step in his journey to where he is now.
