Mixed signs from Strophe

I'm wondering whether Strophe is a girl after all...
She 'kisses' my hands, and keeps trying to groom my sweaters, hair, etc -- girl behaviour, right?
She doesn't pay any attention to mirrors -- again, girl behavioour...
But over the last couple of days she's started imitating uncle Hercules' challenge to intruders, and can sound almost exactly like him. Can girls do that?

Teresa..............Hens can absolutely mimic the behavior and sounds of males. I would have bet everything I had on my Jack being a male up until the day he laid an egg and then I renamed her Jackie.

That was my experience with Romey and Dennis too.

Rae Charles would (and still does) coo, dance, circle and even fan her tail when I would walk into the room and start talking to her.

I always thought she was a male, until I found an egg in her cage.
It's still very possible Strophe is a female displaying male actions.

Can only repeat what you all said. I am observing this behaviour on females too. Emily especially - she is the matriarch of our balcony pijjies - she did even mount Pete and I have a short video of that even!!!!

Terrific observations, thank you so much! I did feel that she was a girl, but I was puzzled by her behaviour. I had no idea that there were feminists in the pigeon world!

... and even amazons because Emily is also fighting like a torero, head to the floor, taking a run like Speedy Gonzales and then "banzai" (Japanese battle cry) - with this behaviour she routs any pigeon even if it is twice the size...

And as a further note: Rudi and Pina are currently in courting/mating mode again. I am somewhat shocked how devote Rudi is towards Pina - SHE REGULARLY MOUNTS RUDI after he was mating with her. I have never seen this so often!
