| Hi AnnMarie, If you suspect Oreo has canker, he, as well as Muffin, need to be treated. Do you have any canker medication, such as Spartrix?
Normally I would suggest separating any sick birds from the rest. In this situation if Oreo has canker, you can pretty much be assured Muffin has it as well. Since they have always been together, separating them may only add to the stress. Let's see what the others have to say about possibly separating them.
Just a little FYI: Another indication of advanced canker is the inside of a birds mouth will be sticky/mucous like.

| NiteOwl is sending you the medications for canker. There was some confusion with your address. I frowarded to her the email you send me and the address had a dark background and she couldn't read it. I wasn't at home and so I couldn't read it to her but gave her your number and I hope you connected.

| By the time I got the address and all, the P.O. was closed. I'll send out the Spartrix and Metronidazole tomorrow morning. I'm going to send it over night delivery, so it should arrive on Monday. Someone will have to be there to sign for it. I did connect with AnnMarie and let her know that.
As far as separating the birds. I wouldn't. As was mentioned, it would only cause more stress on the poor things, and as was also mentioned, if one has it, they probably both have it, so keep them together and treat the both of them.
Be looking forward to updates on them.

Are you tube feeding, or giving them the peas and corn? They don't generally mind the peas and corn, and it's very easy to do. Usually, after a few times, they'll start to eat it on their own. Also, if there is canker in the throat, you could dislodge it with a tube. Do the peas and corn. Put it way in their mouth, to the back of the throat, and push it a bit. They will swallow it. Let us know how it goes.

| Does the hard lump feel like a bunch of seed stuck in there? Is it the whole crop, or just a small part? Are they drinking well on their own? | |

Were they with or without the shell? The reason I ask, is because in the dove mix I buy there are sometimes a few small sunflower seeds in the shell that I think get in the mix by mistake. I always remove them.

I always remove them. I remove them too. When one of my babies started to pick up seed on his own, he overdid it. It was like a hard ball in his little crop. Scared the hell out of me. That can go bad in there. It can't just sit in there like that for days. Anyway, what I did was to feed him formula, mixed with a bit of applesauce, and then very gently mixed it up by GENTLY messaging the crop. It all mixed together, and passed through by the next day. After that, I was careful how much seed he ate all at one time until he got a little bit older.

| AnnMarie, If you feel more comfortable, you can break the tablet in half and give them each a half tablet at a time, rather than the whole tablet at once. | |

| Yes. Give them the whole tablet of Spartrix each. Hold the food and water for 2 hours. If the med makes anyone sick, then feed them after the pill, but hold the water for the 2 hours. Sorry, I worked today and just got in. I have to go back out to work for a couple of hours. Be back in around 7 ish. Please let us know how it goes. If you have any trouble getting the pill in, let us know. | |

| AnnMarie, how is it oing with YOUR canker babies? Mine seem to do well now with the Spartrix pills. One has totally cleared and the other one has still a small nodule. I really hope that it goes that well with your little ones as it did with mine. | |
