Indeed... especially when they say pigeons eat manure and insects, or when they say that after baby pigeons hatch, the mother will stay nearby for protection, and the father goes off to look for twigs to build a nest!

There was once a person by name Joseph Goebbels. He said that formula for disinformation is 90% truth and 10% lie. He was Hitler’s chief of propaganda. Looking back in history, however horrific, very successful one.
I can see the same recipe used by companies who make money of taking bird lifes.

Wow that's pretty bad. :WHAT?: And I like how they say "any food product humans unwittingly feed them or leave for their access". In other words, " any food product, litter, or garbage humans often leave on the ground that pollutes the environment". :For Shame:

It looks like they have offices in every state and maybe we should all contact the ones closest to us.

Of course, there's also the vast list of diseases they say pigeons carry... They conveniently forget to say that the fungus infections listed aren't pigeon-related, the fungus just happens to thrive on pigeon poop -- as they would on ANY poop. And they only affect people who regularly remove vast amounts of the stuff. In fact, it is more dangerous to visit an Egyptian pyramid!

And, if I remember correctly, they also blame pigeons for Toxoplasmosis. Don't they think potential clients will be wary of using the services of a firm that can't tell the difference between a pigeon and a cat?!

I totally agree, lies wrapped up in truth are the hardest to detect; especially when firms like this try to baffle people with science, and at the same time play on their fears and paranoias. That's the language of advertising for you...

Oh,... Hang on a minute: ADVERTISING -- That's it! They ARE advertising, which means that BY LAW THEY AREN'T ALLOWED TO LIE and the Standards Office (or equivalent) could force them to remove all such misleading adverts. Worth investigating this angle.

Teresa and plamenh...you are both so smart. There is a law school that specializes in animal rights. The students are always interesed in taking this kind of stuff on and I'm going to see if they will.

Yes it sure is.
On the grounds of false advertising, thus causing the needless death of thousands of pigeons and who know what else.
Although indirectly, I'm quite sure there are some protected birds involved as well.

If there are grounds to sue those guys for fraudulent advertising, this ball we set rolling could be the beginning of an avalanche!

With hindsight, it's crazy that I've seen so many stupid claims in the adverts of pest control companies and the idea never surfaced until Charis needed ammunition and Plamenh mentioned Goebbels! This forum is so much more than the sum of its parts!

Some thoughts:
If we play our cards carefully and smart, serious damage to the pest control industry can be done.
Maybe some animal shelters can be involved if any material benefits for them can be gained?
Even if we can't put them out of business, at least shake their credibility and media will be happy to raise our voice and carry it around the world.
I heard about Volvo on the news in SA years ago, so this kind of news make international sensation.
If this can be done on several continents simultaneously it will make a hit. Pigeons will become more famous then Elvis, Beatles and Madonna together.

PIGEON POWER, YEAY!

They seem to kill everything inc armadillos, bats, pigeons,wolves etc... and even justify these murders. what really annoys me is that it is ok for humans to destroy habitats yet when the animals adapt they are killed. Main exuses for this seem to be disease, annoyance, and population control. What about how those animals feel :(
