That's lovely that they come so near and trust you. I love it/them

How long has that taken for them to eat out of your hand?

What lovely and very healthy looking birds. You must take good care of them. How lucky they are to have you.

I believe that once trust is established, birds and other critters become very comfortable around you. I feel they sense you and your kindness. I have experienced that on many occasions with animals.

Kindness towards all living critters is such a rewarding feeling, as many on this site know firsthand.

I agree. Animals just seem to be able to read our feelings toward them. I think they can feel us.

This is how the story goes:
I feed ferals for years. Every morning and afternoon they know and wait for me.
There is a feeding place in front of the house with drinking water and partly sheltered by rain for them.
Couple of months ago some of the pigeons discovered that I drink my coffee in the morning in the back yard, so they started hanging around and foraging in the grass and flower beads. Red pigeon Stan, maybe you remember the post initiated closer contact. He would sit by me and almost with lolling tongue watched me intensively in the eyes in expectation. I would give them some breadcrumbs and they would come as close to me as possible. I tried without tossing crumbs, from the palm of the hand, Stan picked up quickly.
Once it started it was easy because whenever I go out in the garden there is always some of them watching and following me. It is just enough to place seeds in my palm and there we go. Actually on the pictures, they are approaching much more carefully than usual because I hold my cell phone and they are scared. Usually I can’t see my hand, it is covered by them.
It is wonderful feeling to be able to touch them and stroke their silky feathers with the tips of my fingers while they eating.

There used to be a park here, that was filled with Pigeons. All I had to do was show up with food in hand and the Pigeons would land on arms, lap and legs. It gave me great joy and I loved to go feed them.

Hi Plamenh,

So where you live your neighbors are okay with you feeding the ferals in your front yard? How many come daily to your home?.

Yes I am. I can’t explain in words but when they come to me and start eating from my hand there is a special feeling of peace and happiness growing in me. It is so strange that I strongly suspect them in conspiracy. They have a way of influencing people and make you pigeon addict. I don’t mind by the way being one as this is really pleasant state. Smile Happy That's too funny
