| Ok thank you both for the answers, I'll monitor it and hope I can see some changes when they start to wean. Will still try for a picture for a check from you. Not having babies before I've got nothing to compare them with. Just being a worry wort. Janet | |

| Hi, Just thought I'd show you how these two 'babies' look now. They are very shy and although the larger one is sometimes out of his box when I go in, they both huddle up together once I appear. [/url[url=https://servimg.com/view/14420483/23]] The darker one is smaller and I think because dad is a Roller, he's going to take after him as his beak looks slightly smaller aswell. He's very timid and won't come out of the box at all. I was wondering if I should be actively taking them out and bringing them down to the feeding box to encourage them to try feeding as I'm not sure but I think they're still being fed, or should I just leave them alone? They must be around four weeks old now. I'd taken them out to clean their nest bowl when I took the pictures, but as soon as I put it back they rush back and sit in the nest again. That's why their little tummies are stained as they insist on sitting in their poop! :Yuk Janet | |

| Hi Cindy, thanks for asking. Well they're both all grown up now and very pretty. I took this photo a couple of weeks ago. Mind you they aren't looking as good at the moment. I noticed these past couple of days their feathers around their faces are a bit thin and I can see their skin through them. I picked one up today to check them over and they seem to have some new feathers sprouting. Not sure if they'd be moulting at this age. I think they're having a bit of a rough time with this snowy cold weather. Apart from that they're very active and eating so well, totally weaned now. They're also learning to stick up for themselves amongst the others. Funnily enough I saw one pecking Bandy the mum yesterday when she came and sat next to her on a perch. Mum retreated to another place!! Teenagers .....they soon forget who brought them up and cared and fed them through those early days. :For Shame: I'm very undecided as to their future with me as my set up is really only ideal for disabled birds. I have had an offer of a permanent aviary home with someone who has two pet pigeons. She had to have an outdoors aviary built for her two as she unfortunately developed an allergy from having them living indoors. She generously said she would take them and I know they'll be so spoilt and well cared for, and it would mean I'd be able to hear and see updates as to how they're getting along. I certainly can't risk releasing them as both parents have never lived wild and so I'm sure I'd never have a wink of sleep wondering if they were coping out there in the big bad world. So I've got to make my mind up whether I can pack them up and send them off. I knew that would be the hard decision I'd have to face when I first found them sitting in that nest. Anyway I'll see how things progress as they get bigger and braver and put it off for a while longer.. I'll keep you posted, Janet | |

| Thank you so much for posting the updated photo of the 'babies', Janet. The have grown into absolutely gorgeous pijjies. I know how hard it must be to think about re-homing them. The offer you have received does sound ideal. Yes, please do keep us posted. | |

| Well I thought I must update you. My babies aren't babies any more... I asked a while ago if siblings ever paired up and low and behold these two have. :For Shame: It was funny a couple of days ago I was watching them through the windows and suddenly one jumped on top of the other... Then Poly their dad suddenly flew down and disturbed them. I don't think he approved. :For Shame: Today when I put some twigs in for them all they started making a nest in one of the bowls. I still haven't named them though as I was saving that for the lady who was going to give them a home but as I think this may have fallen through I'll have to get my thinking cap on and come up with some. At least I know what sex they are now. Janet | |

| Those birds turned out to be real beauties. Dad doesn't approve because usually the top males in the loft will try to interfere when others try to mate. They want to be the only ones to raise offspring. That's normal. They would do that even if it was another pair. They really are very pretty birds. | |

| I missed this last update with photo. What a beauty. Our siblings, Dolly and Dumpling, paired up and they're as happy as can be. I just have to make sure I check their nest for eggs on a very regular basis. | |

| HI, I think they're still a little inexperienced and playing at being all grown up. One day on a nest the next day off again. They got ousted from their nest by Dannie and Baby CHarlie who alternate between two nest bowls and this bowl happened to be one of theirs. :For Shame: So today I found the youngsters had moved to a ground floor box that no-one has used for a while, maybe they'll get some peace down there. They are very pretty birds and take after their dad. He has a gentle expression and always looks as if he's smiling. Cindy I am watching all the nests so carefully now, Janet | |
