| Thank you Robin for updating on Birdy. I am glad you seperated him from the bullies.......he is non-agressive, and timid.........he has never even pecked my hand when I went into his cage. I had the same problem with my Snowflake with him.........he bullied him also and poor Birdy didn't even try to defend himself. I think he will be fine with two hens to keep him comany. I hope he hooks up with one of them. He was sooooooo devoted to the mate he had here. I just think he needs time to adjust.
I am so happy that he is enjoying the higher perches. This is really more than I had hoped for.
I am so thankful for you and everyone who made this possible.
I look forward to more pictures.........please.
Regards, Louise | |

| Sad that he had to be separated from his mate, especially if he was that devoted to her. If he can fly 6 feet up, isn't it possible that he will eventually, with practice, fly fairly well again? Just wondering......................... | |

Pinkie is not the female he was bonded too. The hen Birdy was bonded to is a feral in Las Vegas not here in WI. We were all hoping that Birdy & Pinkie would pair up here at his new home & that still is a possiblity. As for Birdy's flying ability, he can fly up but I really doubt if he can fly any distance and I'm not sure how high he can actually fly. In order for him to be able to fly free he would have to be able to fly a great distance & out maneuver a preditor while flying. We do not free fly any of the non handicapped pigrons here because there are hawks here through out the year, we have Red tails & Coopers flying over head almost daily. Hope this answers your questions.

| Here is a new photo of Birdy taken this afternoon. He seems very settled in the loft and gets along well with his loft friends. This morning I reintroduced Pinkie back into Birdys loft and there appears to be no sign of bullying. I'll post more photos & keep you all updated | |

| Thank you Robin for the update on Birdy and his picture. He looks so good and happy.
I'm glad that Pinky is now back in his loft and there is no bullying. Hopefully they can now get more familiar with eachother. I want him to have a mate ever so much. I know it will take time, and for now I'm so happy that he is with other birds and is adjusting so well.
Thank you again for taking my Birdy in and giving him such a wonderful forever home.

Thanks for asking Charis Birdy is still adjusting to his other loft mates and finding his place in the flock ranking. I've noticed that the birds in this little flock would rather stay in their loft than go out in the flight. I have to chase them out to clean the loft. Last night we got our first snow, more coming tonight , so I will be very surprised to see any of these guys out at all. No mate yet, but I'm sure with time he will find one.

| Thanks for the update Robin.
I've been worrying about Birdy and the cold weather. This is a Vegas pij...........has never been exposed to real cold/snow and has been inside for last 6 months. I don't think you will find him outside in the flight playing in the snow any time soon.
Glad to hear he is still adjusting............hope he finds a mate soon.
I would love another picture when you can find the time.

| Thanks for the update, Robin. My chickens won't go out in the snow either. They would rather chat around the heater after breakfast and until lights out. It's so cold here that I've taken to putting beach towels on the cement floor so it isn't to cold on thier feet. | |

I can just picture them running around on beach towels, probably thinking "this is definately NOT beach weather.!" We have the same here. My spoiled little birds don't know how spoiled they are. Insulated, heat.......................LOL.

| Louise just wanted to let you know Birdy is doing great. This morning when I went to feed & water he was sitting in a feeding dish I have on one of the perches with the little german modena at his side. When one of the other pigeons wanted to eat from the dish, I have 2 feeders in the loft, he fluffed up cooed and wing slapped the intruder! I'd say Birdy is feeling more & more comfortable in the loft. | |

| Oh Robin................Thank you so very much for the update. That is such It has brought tears to my eyes. Do you think that the little modena is his mate now? In any case, it is so good to know that he is adjusting and has found another pigeon to be close with. If you could get a picture of them together, I would just love it. Thank you so much for the uplifting and great news. Louise | |
