My ferals peck at my ring, and invariably look disappointed at the poor nutritional value! ROTFL

That may be the thing with some but not with my black polish.

Could be they think it's the different colored corn displayed during the fall. I'm receiving a special delivery today, - Page 6 46723

Let's face it, feral or pet pigeon, they all just LOVE IT when they find a way to torture us. I think they like the feeling of control it gives them over us. Tickled Pink

It's official...wish I'd thought of it before...I'm going to call him Elliot.

Tam...my son, Caleb, was here or the weekend and is quite taken with Elliot. He wanted to take him back to Eugene with him last night as he now lives in a place that allows companion animals. I said no, though. Elliot is staying here with me and my toes.

Charis, it sounds like you are going to have to find a pij for Caleb! It would be great for others, at his college, to learn just how wonderful pigeons really are! Great job

Robin...I really love it that Caleb loves the pigeons. Just a feeling on my part...but I don't think he's quite ready for his own pigeon companion. I would be willing to let him keep Elliot for a day though, or bring him to Eugene so Caleb can let his friends meet him
Caleb is wealthy in terms of understanding and caring for Pigeons. He can wrap a splay leg quicker than I can. When Romey was young, she spent hours with Caleb. Sometimes he was close the door to keep her out and her would fly down the hall, land on the door knob and try to open the door by pecking at the knob. When that didn't work, she would stand on the floor and tap on the door with her beak. She could make quite a racket
until her relented and let her back in.

Tam...Elliot is doing really well. He has nearly finished molting and his feathers are soft and shiney.
I do love him and while I had not intended to add another member to my flock long term, I don't think I could part with him if I was offered a large amont of money.

I am so glad to hear you are adding Ellie to your flock. No doubt there must be quite a transition for them all having a new bird introduced. Are there females, unattached that he may eventually mate with? So many thoughts. Does he get along with the other birds, eat with them, etc.?

I pray he is learning to fly better, he has such beautiful wings. Adding one more to the lot you care for daily is certainly a great responsibility on your part! I hope one day to see your hidden niche and all the little animals you care for. What fun.

Have been offline for a while, taking care of other matters that have set me a bit behind on seeing what everyone has been up to; but, I glad to hear a good report on Ellie. There are no unattached females for Elliot to mate with.
Mostly, he ignors the other birds and they ignor him...at least they don't fight. Elliot always eats first and the others allow him to. He love defrosted peas, corn and field greens.
Mostly...he loves sitting in the window box, that and waiting for my feet to walk though the door. That's too funny

Tamera...I hope you are following this thread. I want you to know that you guy has finally given up on my toes. Way To Go I am greatly relieved.
He absolutely loves his cage and it's open door policy all day long until lights out. When I go into the room to turn out the lights, most often he is already in his cage, on his blanket.

He also really enjoys sitting in the wndow box. That's too funny

I am soooo happy that you love Circle of Love little Ellie and the complexity I'm receiving a special delivery today, - Page 6 23878 of his personality! He is such a good little guy and i am pleased your toes are no longer and issue for him. Maybe he is starting to feel a bit more secure and not threatened in his new world. He has been gone from here for over 4 weeks now. Everything I have read I'm receiving a special delivery today, - Page 6 397479 indicates one of the highlights about pigeons is that they do not fight among themselves, unlike many varieties of birds. Ellie probably had the need to demonstrate control when he arrived at your place and attacking toes and making certain he eats first was most likely part of that. With no challenge to him by the other birds, he probably has relaxed and is ready to be a sweet little guy.

I'm praying you and your family will be soo blessed with Ellie and no doubt, you are already a blessing to him. I really have missed him. Thank You Thank you for all you are doing to let him fit in with your family. I'm receiving a special delivery today, - Page 6 983488 Way To Go I'm receiving a special delivery today, - Page 6 23878 Thanks again. tam

Fingers crossed ...there is a possibility that Elliot will be going to live with Angel to be her mate. It would be wonderful for him if that happens. Wonderful for me too as Angel spends a lot of time her when her family goes on weekend get-aways and vacations.
Angel is here again now, for 10 days, and so we'll see how it goes.
