| And yes, I do feel empty without little Ellie. Emotions. Ahhhhhh. I have cried buckets! Now why is this? I know he has a great home and I am so happy he is cuddling with you Charis. It makes my heart glad. but I still cry! Give him a little kiss from me. =] | |

- Tamera,
Do you have any idea what happened to Ellie's left foot? Two years ago we found a young feathered, but not yet able to fly, baby pigeon next to a street in the pouring rain. Our pigeon, Queenie, has the same type of foot as Ellie's! I thought it odd and asked our vet, who thought the foot had just formed wrong in the egg. I was very surprised to see Ellie's foot the same way because I hadn't seen one this way since Queenie. In no way am I saying that your vet isn't correct I just thought it unusual to see this type of foot again.

If I can find a photo of Queenie's foot I can post it... if you want me to? I thought Queenies was odd.

| El had a refreshing bath, a few moments ago, in a clean frying pan that I put in the kitchen sink. It seem to be a favorite of most pigeons I know and El is no exception. He splashed around and I put him back in his cage on a thick towel where he is lounging. Great: | |

| Queenie is a beautiful Rock Pigeon. I have photos of what Ellie's foot looked like when I found her. It shows the black covering over the pad. I'll get those downloaded for you to review. The pad was described on one site and the problems with getting to the infection underneath. More to follow. I love Queenie's colors. I was able to care for up to a hundred Rock Pigeons, and I love the coloring and the little white cap on the beak. A beautiful bird--and I love her red feet. =] | |

| Problems posting an image: "Host an image" icon is clicked in the "Post a reply" section Then another window appears from www.servimg.com. Under "Upload your image" the Browse button in the window is clicked. A photo is picked under "File" The image is re-sized to 320 Then the "Host it" button is clicked. The window changes and appears to list three options: a "Thumbnail" an "Image" and an "Image url". The middle one, "Image" is highlighted and the Copy button is clicked. There is no option available to "Go back and click on the Host an Image box (that will close it)." The Window does not have any option to return to the prior window screen. The only option available is to click the button at the bottom, which is entitled, "Upload". When I click the "Upload" button, the original window appears, but no photo is picked. Nevertheless, the "Host an Image" button is clicked and the window refreshes with red writing stating "No image is chosen". Then another screen appears and it is not viewable as the window only shows have of whatever is there. It appears to be some type of registration system related to posting photos, but there is no button visible to proceed further. Help! | |

Help!
There shouldn't be any kind of registration required. Something I discovered when I was learning to use this 'system' is once you choose a URL link you hae to 'Preview' it in order for it to go away and post another 'picture' link. Crazy? Yes!! But apparently that's the way this syvstem is set up. Or a least that's what I have to do if I'm planning on posting multiple photos. I hope we can get this figured out for you, because I'd like to see you be able to post your pictures.

| Cindy.......That is exactly the same problem I have when I try to post pictures.
There was some type of registration and If I remember correctly they confirmed something by email. I've tried to follow the directions dozens of times and I still can't get it to work.
I know I am not the most literate computer wise, but I don't have any problems posting on other sites.
I always have to bother Charis to post for me..........I wish I could do it myself.

Well actually Queenie is a male & in a committed relationship with our lovely Pinkie. Queenie's foot didn't have any kind of scabbing or problems when we found him, thats why our vet & I decided it must have happened in the egg while he was developing. I have also noticed that because his foot placement is wrong Queenies leg & I'm asuming his hip also turns in. It reminds me of being knocked kneed. Charis I'm sorry I didn't mean to hijack your thread I just thought it was very interesting to see that El & Queenie had the same foot problem.

| Robin...it's fine...I don't feel like you have hijacked this thread at all. What you are telling us about Queenie is very interesting. I've noticed that El has some similar hip issues as he is very reluctant to walk and his walk is just different.
Tam...Ellie doesn't fly much. Did he at your house?

| Ellie is a darling! Love his colouring, so unusual! Tamara, thank you for posting his story, and also about his foot, as I've never had a patient with bumble foot before. We are learning all the time, with each new challenge, and this exchange of information and ideas is very valuable to us and to the next patients that come along! It was very interesting to note the similarities with Queenie's foot (beautiful bird!) -- could his foot (Queenie's) have been broken, rather than malformed, in the egg, or even when he hatched? God bless both birds, and all the lovely people who have cared for them! | |
