Strophe is doing great! She's growing quickly, urates are white now and she's learning to eat by herself. She's got lots of new feathers, and a full tail, lol, and her wings are very powerful -- she'll be a great flier!
I'll upload the new videos within a few days.

That IS Teresa. I'm so glad Strophe is coming along so well.
Bless you both.
Looking forward to the videos.

Sorry everyone, I still haven't uploaded the videos. I'm still struggling to manage my time -- which isn't anywhere near enough what I need.
I just wanted to let you know Strophe is doing really well and growing on a daily basis. I haven't weighed her, but I've had to put a large, flat stone on the bottom of the little wicker basket that serves as her nest! I just worry that she may be getting too tame, because she follows me everywhere. She's the sweetest thing!

I love the last picture, she looks so inquisitive.

She is a darling, but she's also becoming very spoiled! At the moment she's showing a definite preference for thawed peas over anything else, but they must be shelled and halved first...
Here are the videos of Strophe, taken over several days. I tried to upload them yesterday, but my computer crashed and my brain was too far gone to wait for the system to boot up and try again...
9th September, still in her nest:
15th September, flight practice then running to mummy:
15th September, learning to peck seeds:
19th September, her own seed dish:
20th September, thinking about flying... You can see the new feathers growing under her wings, but the tips of some of the tail feathers were broken by the cat attack:
23th September: The ultimate answer to the question of feet-pecking pigeons -- WEAR SANDALS WITH BLING!

Strophe is getting all grown-up! Here's a recent video, which finishes with her landing on the camera!

Love the video, Teresa. Many thanks for sharing it with us.
Strophe is indeed growing up. I hadn't noticed (or better yet maybe forgotten about) the little white feathers on the back of her head. Too cute.
Is she going to be releasable?

Thanks!
She has become a cute little thing, with one white wingtip edged in black, and the other wingtip black and edged in white. The mark on the back of her head and the two little dashes behind her right eye have become much more visible as her plunage darkened. They look a lot like Pina's head markings!
I don't know yet whether she can be released, as she is SO tame, and convinced that every human being is a friend. But I've heard her growl at one of the cats, so there's hope yet. I've tried to socialise her with Charlie, who has become pretty good at looking after herself out there, but they fly to opposite ends of the room...

I meant to mention those too. I love those little markings.

Teresa, she is soooooo sweet. And yes - that's what I have realized - similar marking to Pina AND Winnie!!!
I would not worry too much about her being so tame. As soon as she is going for a mate she will become "feral" again. Especially when she is outside. I had the same fear with ours but experience has shown that they lose their tameness when they are together with others again.
Winnie would not even go on my hand any more, nor does Jimi - although both have become very tame during their sickness. They both eat from my hand though still but won't tolerate me touching them. Funny thing is I can move my face towards them within inches but not my hands though

Aha, they trust you not to bite, but they know medicines come from hands...
It seems as though Strophe's becoming more eager to socialise. Here she is (onthe right) with Charlie, and you can see the damaged middle feathers on her tail, caused by the cat. I'm so glad that's all he damaged!
