| While drivng back from Eugene, last night, I received a call that there was a badly injured Pigeon that needed my help. A very wonderful woman, named Tracy met me at my house. She was very concerned about the injuries this poor bird had suffered. Several days before, she had noticed her amongst the feral flock she feeds, with a broken wing. Attempts to catch the bird were unsuccessful until yesterday when Tracy was alerted that Crows had the poor thing down and were attacking it and probably preparing to eat it alive. The wing is broken, the back and tail void of feathers. The bird also had a sore foot. She had canker in her mouth. She won't eat on her own. I suspect this one had survived a Hawk attack as well which downed her in the first place. Tomorrow she is going to the vet to have her wing taped up and be checked over for anything I may have missed. | |

| Tracy certainly has earned her wings. Sending positive thoughts that this pretty little one heals with incident. Thanks for sharing this story, Charis. Will be waiting eagerly for an update after you two go see the vet. | |

| I'm so glad Tracy persevered and was able to catch the poor little thing. And I'm glad she is now in your care. She sounds like a true survivor, and I'll keep her and you in my thoughts and prayers. | |

| WOW!! What a 'sporty' colored bandage she has. Sending special thoughts that the healing process goes without incident. | |

| That is one lucky and pretty little girl. If anyone can save her, it will be Charis.
My brother just recently saved a disabled feral (Fredrick) from the streets of San Francisco. He has a string foot injury and a bad wing. He can only fly maybe four feet off the ground. Fredrick is currently in isolation and taking Al Bon for ten days. He has been wormed and will be looking for a female to join him in the Birdbarn.
Maybe this little girl and Fredrick can be a match made in heaven. I will show Fredrick her picture to see if he is interested.
Thank you Tracy for helping this little angel.

| I showed Fredrick the picture and he winked and got excited......like she a hottie. If she is a she, its is a match for sure. Fredrick is the sixth Feral rescue from my brother who lives in the Bay Area. The first one a blue bar Feral (pij-girl) has only one toe on one foot and none on the other. I've had her since 2002. All are mated (except Fredrick) and enjoying the good life in the Birdbarn. Fredrick's left foot is missing one toe and is slightly bent due to the string injury. All the string is gone but the damage was done. He really is doing fine. I think he had a difficult life, so it really feels good to give him a home. | |

| Tracy,
You are such a kind person to assist this little bird. Charis will work her magic and if all goes well, she will join my pigeon family in the Birdbarn. She will live her life in comfort with lots of room, fresh food and water, and plenty of love.
I have posted pictures of my Birdbarn on this site under Pigeon and Dove Chit Chat.
Yes, there are many people that love these birds and now we have a website to share with others just like us.

Birdbarn-Joe Tracy, et al, I know it can be difficult trying to navigate an unfamiliar forum (and at times even when it's not unfamiliar ) so I'm going to post the link to Joe's thread. It's definitely one that shouldn't be missed. Oh what a life these pijjies have! My fly cage is complete

| What is the status on Fallen Angel? Is she getting alone better? Her story is so amazing. She does deserve the best in life after what she has been through. You are certainly her angel on earth. | |

| Fallen has become quite timid and seems to be frustracted with the broken wing that hangs at an ackward angle and trips her...she so wants to fly . I've trimmed the feathers so she doesn't trip but Deb thinks it better to remove part of her wing to make her more comfortable. I'll have that done when I can afford it and then...she probably would enjoy the BirdBarn. | |
