I went to where the man and dog slept last night and saw them leaving this morning. The place was already full with other homeless men. He was walking his bike rather than riding it and the dog looked exhausted. He stopped in the middle of the street when he saw me approach. I'm fairly certain he recognized my car from earlier in the day.
I drove around him and went a block, parked to see where he was going. When he saw me park, he came through the coffee lot toward me and so I drove off, approaching from behind. I tracked them to the other side of the railroad tracks and then lost them. I circled around and looked again but the street dead ended under the over pass and I felt uncomfortable driving down there.
What I hoped to accomplish was get a location. I had a male friend willing to go down and try to buy the dog. He said he'd get up in the morning, early and go down there and try to find them.
This weekend has been crazy...first with the sick pigeon and now with the man and black dog....neither resloved. Feels like I'm chasing a needle in a haystack. Good thing I haven't anything else to do.

You gave it a good shot. Please be careful. I hope they are found tomorrow. I also hope the pigeon isn't gone yet, and that you get another chance at her.

Charis, have you been able to find the dog again today? Seen anything of the pigeon?

We haven't seen the pigeon since Saturday afternoon. My gut tells me she is dead.

The man with the dog was spotted under an over pass about an hour ago and my friend is going to go there and see if he can buy the dog. A rescue group is also involved at this point. I just don't know how proactive they will be.
At this point...it's a waiting game.

Thanks for the update. I'm really sorry about the bird though. I hope you have better luck getting the poor dog. Let us know how it goes.

Ill or injured animals can't compete with the horrible weather conditions.

Sadly...the man and dog seem to have moved on. He hasn't been to the coffee place in 2 days.
I just got back from driving around to see if I can spot him...no luck. Animal Control is on board and has said they will pick the dog up, if they can be located. Animal Control does have limited hours though and so if we are to have their help, the window of oppoutunity is verey short.

He may have become a little suspicious.

May they be watching over that poor dog.

I'm sure he was suspicious. I also know he got his check and so he may be off using, and I've been told he's more abusive when he is.

He doesn't stay put long enough and when he does, he seems to be hidden so we can't find him.
That's the problem...he is on the move and so when I do see him, I can't give an exact location. That's why I have been trying to figure out where he sleeps at night.

Oh how sad I have been praying that this poor dog could be helped It's times like these that I feel so very helpless.

Funny how he just disappeared. I too think he must have been suspicious. He will probably show up again. Hope the dog is okay til then.

How would you know he got his 'check', whatever check that might be?

It just seems to me there are enough people who know enough about this man that notifying the police so they could at least be on the look out for him would be a move in the right direction.

I know he got his check because he told the girl at the coffee drive through he got it and he paid his tab there. He gets a disability check every month on or about the 1st.

The area he sleeps in is a vast and industrial ... during the week day hours, for the most part, he leaves the area to return after everyone has gone home.

As for who else besides Amanda and myself are aware of him...I can't say. I only go into the area to feed the pigeons on the weekends.

As for finding him...I've spent hours this past week looking and a tank of gas. I am a master sleuth and I can't find him.

That's why I was thinking if the police were notified there would be multiple eyes looking for the same subject. And they would have the authority to stop and question him.
