Hi, Petra!
I wish I had seen Alice splashing around in the bath! She must have had a lot of fun! Thank you for the update and the good news. It must come as a great relief for you to see the continuing progress that your patients are making! Just as it is a great relief for your patients to have a carer like you! And three cheers for Cynthia!
I'm delighted that you feel comforted and supported by your friends here at PA. That's the wonder of the internet, isn't it, being able to find and stay in touch with people who think like you!

And here is a new update on Alice and Winnie.
Here are some photos of poop comparison - I thought you might be interested to see this.
This is how Alice's poops looked like when I took her in
3 days later:
And this is how they look like now after 4 weeks:
Here are Winnie's at the beginning - they look exactly like Alice's at the beginning:
Winnie's now:
The yellow colour is from the baby cereal I am feeding - not a sign for liver damage or anything else....
I think there is really a progress to be noticed. Especially Alice can fly again and she is eating!!!! She defends her little box and always tries to fight with Willy. But nevertheless she is a sweetie and I think she can be released when the weather is warm again

Cindy - I am very glad also that this seems to have a happy ending - now waiting for the weather to get warmer. It is freezing cold here - below zero and we nearly have midth of March

Thanks for posting the pictures of Alice in the bath, Petra! I think the second one is my favourite, but I love them all!
Thanks also for the comparative photos of the poops, showing the different stages up to the present. The kind of methodical records you've been keeping are very helpful.
It's great to hear your patients are doing well. It will be a very happy day for them and for you when they can stretch their wings in the warm sunshine.

At least the weather forecast says for next week some spring temperatures - we will see what happens!

Charis - we are all "starving" here - from lack of sunshine - I really hope that the whole is over now because this was the worst winter I ever can remember. There were so many days where I had to feed our balcony pigeons at least 4-5 times a day and had to change the water every 2 hours because it was deeply frozen. How they waited for their warm soup all the time - lining up at the 2 water pots... Unfortunately I have no pics because my camera probably would have frozen as well....

A little update on Alice and Winnie:
Winnie - she is improving, slowly but improving each day. Her circling has subsided to merely once a day or none at all as today. Her head trembles have stopped completely and she is much more alert now, looking what's going on. She is such a sweetie. Since I let her out of her box each day now she is gaining more strength. Today she even climbed up my big easel where I have a big cloth hanging over it like a little bat, flapping her wings for support and she managed to climb at least one meter. And she could "fly" down again with a little crash landing but she did not hurt herself. So she is making good progress. Her appetite is very good - she is still being handfed 3x a day and her digestion is good. She is cooing from time to time so she has her voice back too. So I am sure now that she will recover completely too.
Alice - she is a real little devil. She totally seduced Jimi who has completely fallen for her. They are both a couple now. Each day both were fighting with Willy who is definitely a little poop and troublemaker. So I decided today to give them (Jimi and Alice) a little nest besides Jimi's box and we have finally peace now - I think Alice is soon ready to be released. And Jimi as well. I only want to make sure that both are eating completely by themselves and enough. At the moment they are not quite ready yet but I am watching them. I have cut the handfeeding down to tubefeeding in the morning still because of the fluid and vitamins and all the other nutriments in the baby cereal andsome peas for lunch - nothing else. I want to release them together so that they have a better life together. We will see. But I am very happy about this development.
Here are some photos of Alice and Jimi - sitting on/in Jimi's box together:
And this is a photo of Jimi and how he started to torture the carpet so that I decided to give them a nest:

Great 'up close' photos, Petra. Wishing Alie and Jimi all the best when the time comes for their release.

Yes...they are wonderful, magical pictures, Petra. Inspiration for another painting perhaps? Especially 3-5.

Here is another little video of Alice and Jimi and their beginning love story:
In the meanwhile they are a real couple and will be released tomorrow.
Winnie is doing better each day also. She has started to peck at the seeds and learned the trick that Alice used as well: pecking at small seeds and then throwing her head backwards to be able to swallow. Her head tremors have disappeared entirely. As I let her out of her box each day also she can train her flight muscles as well and she does. Also she is training her leg muscles by jumping up and down on and from her box. Clever pijjies - they exactly know what to do for their rehabilitation. Simply amazing
What is really sweet is that Willy often sits in front of her box and "talks" to her. Unfortunately he is still too rude to leave them both together.
